I can't believe my account was still active after almost 3 years! lol. Maybe some of you remember me, some maybe don't.

Anyways, a lot has changed since my last log in (6-25-2008 to be exact). I moved to El Paso, TX and got married again to a wonderful woman named Eva Christina (She only goes by Eva at work). She brought with her a daughter named Jasmine Renee who turns 15 next month and who I adore and claim as my own. Christina and I had another daughter named Lily Melisa (not mispelled, we used the Spanish version after my wife's best friend lol!) who is 18 months old.

My wife comes from a very close knit Mexican family and I had to get used to having everybody get together so often. I grew up living hours away from any family so I was used to just my mom, dad and brother so it was kind of a culture shock, lol.

Up until the week before Christmas I still worked at Wal-Mart, the last two years in grocery receiving before they up and fired me for leaving a receiving door unlocked while I was present in the receiving area, a detail that cost me my unemployment for "misconduct" which I am disputing but who knows when that will be settled. Since all the people fired around the time I was let go were mid to long term employees, it seemed to me they were "cleaning" house in order to reduce payroll since the lady who replaced me is a newbie who can't handle the job at all, according to the gentleman I worked with in receiving who I consider a good friend.

At any rate, having no job kind of sucks so I am going to get back into trucking. I haven't been able to find a job that pays anywhere near where I was making at Wal-Mart (there are jobs at Wal-Mart that do pay pretty good) thanks to our proximity to cheap labor. Since there are companies with terminals in El Paso, it will be easier for me to get home more often. When I worked for Stevens, I was out 6-7 weeks at a time, but that was because getting home to Las Cruces was difficult to impossible and I was single and had no real reason to come home other than kick back. I already contacted the school I got my CDL from the first time and I am eligible for a free refresher, I just have to get my CDL permit and medical certification, which I am currently working on.

My wife is fully prepared for the changes that my getting into trucking will bring. Her uncle is an owner operator and her stepfather is a driver for a small outfit here in El Paso so she knows full well I will be gone for a bit. But I think she misses having the bed to herself since I worked graveyard for so long, lol.

Anyways, have a good rest of your February.

    Ducks Thanks this.

Well I am now an official CDL carrying driver. I took my test at the DPS today. I was contacted by Swift and will ne starting orientation here in El Paso. It's been a long road but I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel!
