It's better to eat from all four food groups in moderation than to eliminate food groups and replace those nutrients with supplements. Too many people want to cut a food group from their diet, when that was not the way mother nature intended things to be. Choosing the healthier options from each food group, and eating in moderation is a much better option than depriving the body of nutrients it needs.
Can't stop eating!!!

If you eat the right amounts of vegetables(like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), what do you need from from grains and dairy?
A little reading on gluten. http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2010/09/19/paleo-diet-solution/ -
I don't need an education on gluten. Everyone keeps jumping on the latest bandwagon for what's good for you and what's not. Thing about that is that 5 years down the road, the research changes, and what was bad for you is now good for you. If you don't have an allergy to or other problem with a food there is no reason to drop it from your diet. If you balance your diet and eat in moderation there is no reason, other than an allergy or other issue to drop a food from your diet, just because of whatever latest 'research' shows.
You cannot get enough calcium from veggies. Just like one cannot get enough iron from veggies. You cannot get all of your nutrients from just veggies.GuysLady, Injun, sebo and 1 other person Thank this. -

diet free for life by robert ferguson, try his book its easy its not a diet and it works i ve done it and i ve lost fat, not weight

Men don't need extra iron. Women can get rid of their extra iron every month. As far as having an allergy, many people have an allergy to gluten(actually, most people do), but don't know it, as it's very subtle.
By the way, the earth being round was the "latest research" at one time too. That didn't go over well, until it was found out that it really is.
And I agree you can't get ALL your nutrients from veggies, however, there are none that are required from grains, dairy, or fruits, that you can't get from veggies, meats, nuts, and legumes.
However, believe what you will. I choose to be highly informed. -
By the way, an average, healthy, 25 year old male needs a recommended 1000mg of calcium a day. 1 cup of salmon with bones gets you around 919mg. 1 cup of cooked spinach gets you around 245mg. 1 cup of black-eyed peas gets you 211mg. So, as you can see, dairy is NOT needed for calcium.

Healthy: you seem well informed.
How many calories should a 6'2", roughly 200# male eat in an average day? Numbers only, please. I actually eat a diet similar to that which you describe. So please don't pontificate to me. -
What would you say your normal daily activity level is?

You are well informed but as Lillbit said eliminating ANY foods is wrong. The last 30 years has shown that these are FAD DIETS such as Atkins, or Low Carb or Glucose index,...............................should I GO ON????????
ALL FOODS IN MODERATION ARE FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eliminating ANY foods is not good or healthy. THERE IS NOTHING wrong with fruits!!!! You say they have too much sugar but vegetables are okay???? Ummmm have you checked out the sugar content in carrots? Too much of one thing or things from a food group are not good for example you list many veggies high in Vitamin K- if you suggest this to someone taking Coumadin/Warfarin then you could be putting them at risk of changing their coagulation studies so much that they HAVE a blood clot.
If you speak to any RD- registered dietician-you will find they teach to eat from ALL food groups including FATS- you need good fat. Yes you need to limit processed sugar, BAD fats, cholesterol and salt. But the foods you are saying that should be eliminated are essential.
It is tiring that someone writes a book and it's the best biggest thing to be healthy. Really to be healthy -it's pretty simple- eat the amount of calories from all foods groups that support a HEALTHY weight for you and give you the nutrients you need and get exercise.
To the OP: I saw your pics and again I will say I would suggest you speak to a medical professional as you are self diagnosing. Too much information on the INTERNET or in books does NOT substitute for a medical professional doing a good physical exam and history.sebo, Lilbit and rocknroll nik Thank this.
