Fuel can be anywhere from 3.40 to over 4.00 depending where you are. Using our company fuel cards the prices are discounted, sometimes just a little, other times quite a bit. We have daily updates on prices for drivers to trip plan if they have access to the web while traveling.

The reason I've asked is : in the last 3-4 days I've seen diesel go up by +/- $0.20.

That's $60 extra for 300 gallons. Anyone thought about recycling their engine oil?

Fuel is THE major expense nowadays. Fuel surcharge will largely offset that especially if your truck gets over 6mpg which is what the FSC is calculated from. Since I usually get well over 7mpg with a moderate load, the more the cost of fuel goes up the better it is for me. Now for those who like to drive fast and idle all the time, and end up with 4.5 mpg, it is bad news and getting worse. Fuel management is a prime key in profitability these days and will continue to be so.

What significance would recycling engine oil have? If you put it into your fuel you are taking all the crap the oil flushed out of the engine (soot, metal particles) and running in through your fuel filter, clogging it faster, and most of it will run through the fuel pump maybe increasing wear, on to the injectors again possibly increasing wear, and the same once in the cylinders. How much would there be to gain by a couple gallons of oil every (insert oil change interval here) miles?

I never reset my ECM after my last trip to Quebec, it has been at 65 since mid Dec and I haven't hit that speed except on downhills. My normal cruise is 62, sometimes down to 58. I still get where I need to be on time, every time, and legal.

Also use a honda inverter generator for heat and AC, saves roughly $35-40 per day when I have to take a ten hour break, and the longer the break the greater the savings.
