Advice for a new guy?

I just joined a company hauling fuel for the oil field and my past working record includes 3yrs of doing absolutely nothing (stay at home dad) and zero driving experience. I simply turned in an application to anyone who would hand one to be filled out. My thought was, all they can do is say yes or no...and I got a lot of no replys for sure. Anyhow, you already have your CDL, so I wouldn't worry about getting a certificate. Just apply to anyone with a truck in their fleet. If it doesn't work out, use that Certificate money to relocate to the Texas oil field.

I think I found your problem right here.

A good, small firm is much better than a bad large company.

On the other hand you can get "lost" in a large company. So if you put in a year of mediocrity, nobody's going to notice as much.
