Making recommendations when you don't even know what's wrong with my back?

Disc degeneration, transitional vertebra with partial sacralization/lumbarization, and bad SI joint. Even my spine specialist restricted my exercises during flare ups to ONE stretch because anything more than the one puts too much strain on the whole mess.

Yes, I am going to take my spine specialist's advice over anyone else, not because of the degrees, but because he has come back from serious back injury himself and he looks at the whole picture.

So basically you are just someone that decided to go on your own health platform. read some books and now profess to others that you KNOW what they need to do. Seriously keep your comments to suggestions and stop trying to fleece people

They were suggestions that you COULD look into if the problem areas matched the right therapy. At no point in time did I say I know more than your health practitioner, about your specific back issues.

I threw those out there as information on different techniques. They obviously don't match your issues.

My sympathies on the back issues. I've some back problems, but nothing like that, and I don't wish back problems on anyone.

    Fleece people? Bwahahahahahaha

I tell everyone to get bloodwork done, try something, and get bloodwork redone to verify if what you did is good or not, and I'm fleecing people?

    Riiiiight.

Nah. After seeing the black lights shone in hotel rooms, I couldn't stay in one ever again.

    Dave,

I feel your pain buddy. My numbers were at 500. They have dropped to under 200. I was like you and questioned what can I eat?? I went to lunch packing 101. What do all packed lunches need and have besides junk food??? Now before we go on folks, lets examine what is junk food and the alternatives. A good book is this one: Eat This Not That

    http://www.amazon.com/Eat-This-Not-...r_1_16?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1298619818&sr=1-16

It will lead you to a good start on cutting calories.

Junk Food is unhealthy food and the alternatives do not include cutting everything off. You can still have favorites. Trust me and read on:

You might think I am out of my mind. Lets me tell you something: I aint perfect when it comes to food. Now back to the lunch packing. If we learned anything in grade school; we learned how to eat lunches good. Personally, I ate turkey sandwiches and had a six pak (i can dream right??). Ok I was in good shape and alternated my food groups thus earning the moniker "Tooth Pick" by my step mother before I went to rebellious phase of eating wrong foods.. I did not eat the same thing everyday which we all have a tendency to do. Having bad numbers in Triglycerides can lead to diabetes and heart attacks if we are not careful.

My objective: Eat stuff with low sodium and cut out those sodas plus examine every darn label on everything I eat. I still drink sodas but less. I could go through a 12 pack in a day and have room for a pizza. No joke. I could eat five prime ribs, two salads and down countless number of beverages. I was a pig.

Nowadays, I drink two soft drinks, then water. My salad is usually Greek or Italian. My main meal is grilled chicken or spicy Italian food. If thats the latter, I usually ate once before and have a light snack of an apple before hitting the sack. I try to even things out and do not overeat on one food group.

Now If I bored you, I apologize. I just wanna say we can eat in style and have fun while being healthy.

    Till then,
    KH

Thanks for the 411 Kinghunter. I am counting my calories now, not drinking my Coca Cola:biggrin_25516:. Anyways, eating grill chicken and tuna(real light on the Mayo). Will see what happens in a month, also cut back on the sweet fruits according to TheHealthyDriver.

Lilbit--Now I AM NO DOCTOR--but I think you know I am in the process of recovering from spinal surgery--there have been some amazing adavnces in the last 18-24 months--My disc replacement procedure--only concluded the full FDA approval process in the last 20months(although done in europe for 10+years) I am just wondering if you have looked into this? I am sure your spinal specialst knows best--my surgeon is actually an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spines(25+yrs as a surgeon--on FDA board for clinical trials)
So please don't take this the wrong way--but I know how debilitating spinal problems can be--so I just wanted to mention it to you:biggrin_25519:

I'm keeping that on the back burner for later in life! The biggest source of the problem right now is the SI (Sacro-illiac) joint on the right. The disc degeneration isn't causing problems with the nerves as yet, since it's pretty mild. The SI joint fix option at this point is surgery, but I'm not ready to go there yet. It's success rate doesn't make sense at this point since I can still manage to keep the issues minimal right now.

I'm looking at things right now like it did with my bad knee for 10 years . . . they can take something bad and make it fairly good, but they can't take something fairly good still and make it perfect. When I finally had the knee surgery 10 years after the initial injury, it was bad, and it's been pretty darn good since the surgery. Haven't had any problems with it at all since then!
