Variithms, I too only see 5 straps. Supposed to have one every 10' at MOST, per DOT; I like 'em at 5'-6'. Here's a link: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=393.110

I see there is a 2" x 10" ? (probably) nailed to the tops of the trusses, to hold them together so they won't flop over. Good. I'd like 2 chains total on the top spans, in a 'wrap' about 1/3 way from each end boomed. The thing looks top-heavy and I don't know if I'd trust nails thru those boards to hold it together.
Are you having any trouble with perhaps the last 2 straps slipping off and getting loose? If so, it is because the 'pull' isn't 90 deg. to the load. I'd set my winch /strap 90 degrees to the wood itself, which would put that 2nd from end-yellow one about under that vertical board. You really don't have enough straps on it tho; maybe you weren't finished yet when you took the picture. :biggrin_25520:
I hope you appreciate my comments, from a Safety standpoint. Just doing what I can to keep it Safe out there. I'm sure you agree.

I'd be scared to roll thru a Weigh Station lookin' like that, without expecting a ticket. Come back and tell me those top planks are screwed down, not nailed, and you get a Gold Star. Without a 'wraparound' chains on the Top of that mess and at least 2 more straps, I 'don't like it'. :biggrin_25513:

    VARITHMS Thanks this.

That was just the straps used to get it out of the covered portion of the assembly area.

There was a total of nine chains used to keep this upright. Top and belly wraps. There was all the straps the trailer had winches for. The 2x material was used to keep the chains and straps from damaging the trusses. I spent about an hour getting ready for the road.

That was one of the reasons we ship our own trusses now. We used contract trucks and they have lost two loads now.

    Thanks for the concern.
