It is with Roehl. My husband didn't use the clutch either. He floated. When he was in trainer orientation the instructor noticed that and told him he needed to go back to using the clutch as they want the trainees to use the clutch also.

From others postings here it seems Schneider is a good company to start out with. Good luck.

Thank you, I tried to do my due diligence and check out what poeple out there are saying. I'm a former Police officer and I can tell by the way some people write that they have personal grievances with company's, not usually the company to blame.

I started my driving career with the BIG ORANGE over 15 years ago. They put you through 2 weeks of training. 2 weeks may not seem like a lot of time they didn't waste a lot of time. 2.5 FULL days of classroom (about 30 hours), one day driving a bobtail and the rest was pulling a loaded 48 footer through Green Bay! I learned a lot during those 2 weeks. The additional time spent with a trainer and then as a member of a team added up to about 4 months of training.

They are a good company. I lived in the Memphis area and they got me home nearly every week.

Well good luck to you.My man just quitt Schneider a few weeks ago.......driving for Knight Ref now which is better pay and a much better Truck.Home time aint as good as with Schneider but he doesnt have to put up with that much BS.His Truck at Schneider kept breaking down,he was sitting around waiting an awful lot,the dispatchers didn't know what they were doing and different shifts told him different things. And all that at 23 cents a mile including per diem. The only good thing WE found about Schneider is that they really do have GREAT training.
    Good Luck to you!

you see that too lawdog im not even a cop or former but I knew that from the start.

Companies can not be as bad as everone says they just started because some of them thought that this job is a giant vacation and then they found out the truth.

I went to STA about 3 yrs ago. It is very fast paced, double clutching is mandatory. From my view, Pros: very safety oriented, experienced instructors, they are required to go out on the road and work a couple of loads a year so they don't forget their jobs. Cons: very fast paced course, although they do have tutoring, provide meals, while in school. You spend 2 weeks in school, 1/2 days in class room, 1/2 day sharing driving with other students in training truck. 3rd week, more class/truck, a bit more advanced work. Once you go out with a trainer o-t-r, you are in their truck, their rules, running off their log book, although you do keep yours, but when their 14 are up, that's it. If there are 2 students, or a male drive instructor with female students, every night the truck stops at a hotel. In my case, there was 1 male driver trainer and 2 of us female trainees. At first we slept in the truck, no idoling, while he got the hotel room. Every morning he would come to the truck, we would go to the room and take showers. After a few nights, we would rotate, he would sleep in the truck and we got the hotel room. Then once he passed us, we got our own truck, and off we went. Usually got the crap loads, ran mostly NE, NY city etc. Training board is designed to push you, you have to learn fast to keep it legal and stand up to the driver manager. I learned a lot, but learned more once I was out on my own. There is a lot they didn't cover, even with a driver trainer.
