Ok, on a more serious note. I ate well using my coolers and a lunchbox heater. My truck could keep both my coolers cold over night while resting.
The bunk area makes me think of a Navy ships bunk area. Luxuries such as sat radio are paid for by the trucker. Some companies do use automatics, but newbies should avoid them. The manual trannys will help you to understand controling the rig better.

Hopefully you will not be "hotbunking". That is where someone sleeps while you are on shift. Then when you are done, He gets up and you go straight into that same bunk!!

i usually try to eat edible food, but sometimes at truck stops, when you order steak, you get an old shoe instead. so DO NOT order steak.

the truck i had would shut off the power at whatever was pre-determined so that i would have battery power to start the truck. but if you are idling a truck all night (or all day long) since the engine is running, this should be of no concern.

NO, you get the a/c and heater, and maybe all the electrical hook ups, and maybe a fridge, otherwise, it's on your dime...

Check out the truck manufacturer websites like Kenworth, international, freightliner etc... They have picts and vids of the insides of the trucks.

Or those with a disability, of course.... for example: my left knee was injured during my military time (non -combat). This means my right leg takes the weight when climbing, etc. I can drive the standard by floating most of the gears, but if I were to double-clutch all day, I'd be using a cane by midday ( I often do anyway). If I ever purchase my own rig, I might go auto or paddle shift to save wear and tear on me.

 

we have several trucking companies near my school, and i have always been able to speak with some of the o/o's that work for them.

i gotta say that roughly 35% of them say the next truck will be an automated shifting truck, no matter the cost.
