The thing with Rick happened during the early 80's, not much satellite tracking then.
He had tiny coal black dead eyes sunk far back in his skull, with the skin stretched tightly across his face, looked kind of dead like. Had a SOG tattoo on his forearm which didn't really impress me until a bunch of Viet vets I knew agreed he was the "real deal"
And he had the whole outlaw biker thing going too. Owner probably figured "got my truck back, why risk anything more"
I just know he didn't go to jail and seemed to have no problems about it.

By the time they found it, the mud and drum were a total loss. The mud set up, but would take weeks to harden thoroughly in that setting. They called a wrecker, lifted the drum off, replaced it and the truck was back in service.

I've been on both sides. While in training with the trainer from hell (you know) I was in the rack when he pulled into a T/S ( E. St louis)stopped jumped out and told me to park it and he went in to shower. Ok that was such a little thing but it was the last! I parked it kinda side ways ( 3 spaces)in the back row grabbed what I could carry and split. Cought a cab to the bus station then rode the gray dog to Chicago, train to Gary then bribed a cop to give me a ride to the terminal then drove home to NY. Three days Thats THREE DAYS Later the co called looking for me:biggrin_2554:I always wondered how long he looked for me.
And yeah it was worth it!!

I've gone to p/u 2 trucks one left at a shipper and 1 at the driver house

I heard about a driver way back when who put his loaded reefer trailer on a train flatbed car, turned it up to 80 degrees, and shipped it across the country . . . the wrong way . . . COD!
Great story, even if it is not true.
