Does using MotorKote increase fuel mileage? That is another one like the Turbo 3330 that is advertised alot on the trucking radio shows. I bought a gallon and put it in my oil and think my fuel mileage may of increased a bit but it is hard to tell because of the different load weights and different routes and terrains I drive in. I did notice the engine was running a little cooler though and it was a few oill changes ago so I just wanted to get opinions from everybody before I do it again.

some will say it does, but i am of the theory that its no more than an additive. one could easily just use a synthetic oil instead, which could extend the oil change intervals.

the only additives i would ever use is fuel, like anti-gelling and injector cleaners.

then too one needs to check the owners manual to be sure the engine maker says using oil additives is ok..

there are a lot of additives we can dump into the crankcase, that are supposed to do this or do that......but i seriously doubt that unless one has a full shop and maybe a dyno, the average person will only "think" there is an improvement, as they were mesmerized by the printing on the labels......

i'd rather spend the few extra dollars on a high quality synthetic or synthetic blend of oil and top quality oil filters, rather than additives...this way too, you can be sure the shop you go to has the oils, but they may not always have the additives, which means you got to go hunting them down each oil change time. waste of time, waste of money.....

Motorkote does work. I recommend you run synthetics through the whole truck and if you really want to see the benifit of Motorkote put a quart in the Transmission and a quart in each differential and squirt 1 ounce in each front wheel hub. If you have temperature guages on your diffs and tranny you'll see them drop off. After the inital engine treatment of 3 quarts,I just add 1 quart every oil change. My fuel mileage went up around 10 % by treating the whole truck. Pour a little on your fifth wheel as well when you grease it it helps stop dry spots, and if you grease your own truck stick a long screwdriver in the tube of grease and put an ounce in there and stir it around. If you switch to synthetic in your engine you could do 36,000 mile oil changes with a bypass filter you'll be money ahead.

I've always been leery of the "Engine overhaul in a can" products like Slick Fifty and such. But one of my "off road" buds was a distributor for Wynns and I got to meet and talk with several of the chemist types from the organization. These guys loved to come along and watch their products being beat on. Definitely not afraid to get down and dirty.

So, these days I'm a lot more open to additives and synthetics. But ya still goot be aware of the snake-oil salesmen.:biggrin_2559:

Quart? Motorkote recommends a gallon treatment to the engine motor oil every third oil change. Where does this quart come into play?

if it don't carry a approval number by the engine manufactuer , it don't go in my crankcase , synthetics and a good filter and a easy foot on the loud pedal makes more differance on milage than anything eles .

Instead of adding 3 quarts every third oil change. After your inital treatment you can add 1 quart every oil change, it just becomes a part of routine maintenance.

Something that claims to work good for everything from BBQ grills to machine guns isn't going into the engine that I paid $21K for an inframe on.

Oil change and OB/GYN in one convenient location !! There are no chemicals that can replace or delay a mechanical repair. Closest thing is liquid glass obtained from the pharmacy to seal a crack in the blocks water jacket.

Good oil, top line filters and a lite foot gets you payday everytime.

FYI: I was told by a Shell chemist that the chemical used to make single grade oil a multi viscosity WILL shorten your engine life. The amount shortened was insignificant.
He referenced a car engine and spoke about 3-5k less over 100k test.
