If this knothead had merely forgotten to shut his jakes off, I wouldn't be irritated.
Nope....I heard .......rrrrrrrRRRRRRRRTTT!---BR-BR-BR-br-br-br......rrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRTT!---BR-BR-br-br........
He's a "jake shifter" even out on the highway. That horse was beaten dead in some other thread...how it's not necessary to do that unless you're hauling logs or chips out of some very rugged territory. Looking around here, I don't see any trees, much less gravel logging roads with 15% grades.
Oh...did I mention he had spent 45 minutes trying to convince me how great he is while I was having that trailer light fixed?
Seriously???

I hear you, last night about 4am I was walking to my truck and some moron came threw the parking lot around a blind right turn flying. No idea the speed but definatly a high gear. This is why I wear a reflective vest at night in these lots, luckily he seen me at the last second.
I'm gonna start getting truck numbers and reporting people like this. It's just dangerous, no reason to be flying threw a ts.Injun Thanks this. -
What do you mean "not impressing anybody"?
He was impressing himself.
The coolest dude around , just ask him.Injun Thanks this. -
That's all I'll pick on.
I know, it's trivial, but...
Back on topic. Yeah, it's annoying, at best and dangerous at worst, the way some of these guys barrel through the parking lots. Makes no sense.Injun Thanks this. -
What's the definition of "jake shifter"? Letting the jake slow you down enough to shift to a lower gear? Or switching it between high and low? If its the former that's all I ever do if possible. Whether right or wrong I gues I don't know.

Okay, here is my beef. You're running down the interstate in heavy truck traffic. You're crusing about 65 when you see 2-3 trucks on the on-ramp about half mile up. You look over, check your mirrors a few times and see that nobody is next to you, SO.....you signal over. You have a pretty good run on a couple of the guys, and stay in the hammer lane. The last one you think you're going to pass with no problem seems to be taking their time to get up to speed to return the courtesy and let you back over into the slow lane. BUT WAIT......all he sees at first is your red/blue/silver truck and dont think anything else about it........UNTIL.......he sees the wagon you're pullin'. OH NO WAY will that driver let a swift trailer ahead of him. that would make him feel kinda like a horse being gelded.....we cant have that...so he GUNS IT and then starts pacing you.
this happened to me on my way up I-65 nb headed to my turnoff on bluegrass. why is it some drivers (i might even go as far as to say most?) think their ego is going to be hurt if they're seen letting a swift trailer pass em? I mean seriously??? how old are ya?
think i'm going to get a bumper sticker made for my right hand fender that says, "BE PROFESSIONAL, BE COURTEOUS, DONT WANNA?? THEN F*** OFF!!!" -
Jake shifting is running up through the gears with the jake on. Not necessary on paved roads and just plain annoying in a parking lot.

this drives me nuts, I'm getting to the point that I don't wanna let people in, because they hang me out there in the hammer lane, then 4 wheelers get behind them and soon I'm spending miles of road stuck there. And all because I was nice enough to move over for them.KevinUnserJr Thanks this.
