Macro 12 or GPS? How about when it comes down to it......NEITHER !! Good ol' common sense goes a long way. Looking up and down the road you're about to turn on while waiting for traffic goes a long way. How many times have you turned only to find the dreaded "NO TRUCKS" sign a block down the road? (or "NO THRU TRUCKS").
I use Microsoft Streets/Trips. No sense to waste $400-600 on a GPS for "truckers"....cause i'm told they have a tendancy to goof.

the trucker gps help over the regular by putting you in the correct lanes, avoiding low clearance areas, no thru truck roads, etc but you can never replace common sense. as for the right or left side of the road look for even or odd numbers

I love Microsoft Streets & Trips, wont use anything else for a GPS. That combined with the directions (to customer) on file, cross reference with the Atlas one in awhile. The only time i've ever gotten in a jam has been my own fault.
Would love to see a truckers version of the S&T software. -
what i like most about the 2010 version is that say you set the waypoints for start and finish, but it dont take you thru the route you know you need to go or want to match it up with directions and/or fuel route....is you can click and drag the route over to the street you want to amend it to, and it'll automaticly refresh with the updated route you want. kinda slick mesa thinks. -
Seems like the 12 is getting 'enhanced' with some 23 info.
Just did a 12 & 23, the 12 gave the canned dry goods but then had the extra
23 ' go to the west entrance dock 100-110'
Maybe someone's going through and merging the two -
So far I use
GPS ( only to get a general idea of what area of town I am going to
23 ( Yea they just brought it back for a little while)
Atlas
Swift terminals to see if maybe other drivers have been where I am going
Google Earth
I had Microsoft street and trips but don't know where the heck I put it.
have you guys seen this for streets and trips?

I'd like to see a version of it specifically for drivers, including things like: Truck stops, rest areas, scale houses, low clearance bridges, truck routes etc.
I recommend this program to all drivers. For the price of one of the trucker gps units, you can buy a new laptop, and the S&T software for the same price.hunnerbunner Thanks this.
