What do you do when a car trys to pass another and then lines up with the car in the right lane? I think trucks are more courteous. Trucks pass and then get back over compared to some cars who pass and then line up and hold up the left lane for miles. Why do they behave like this?

They dont know the rules of the road, thats why. I HATE it when I get stuck behind people putzing along side by side like that. Nobody knows what those reflective things on their cars do so they never notice you behind them trying to pass. Havent found a way by it yet... They seem to be oblivious to horns and flashing lights.

Apparently many others do not as well.

Most interstate highways have a minimum and maximum speed.

You will find vehicles between each of these.

What happens is that a vehicle will start to pass and then they slow down as they go around the vehicle they are passing. This is because of the many years of the 55 speed limit. They instantly feel they are passing too fast and may get a ticket.

They also do not look down at the speedometer.

Notice, I said a vehicle. I have seen this happen many times with trucks as well. No, it is not the limiters. After the truck finally passes, it picks up speed again.

I have to agree, flashing your lights and hitting both horns seems to be useless on some of these inconsiderate drivers {some truckers included} they either don't understand that the 2nd lane is our passing lane or they just do it to spite. I run from S. Jersey to Boston daily and have this issue many times over, at times I'm half tempted to give them a little nudge to get them moving..:biggrin_2559:

A lot of times the car being passed will speed up when a passer comes along side as they realize they are being a turd.

Sometimes it is the passer who is afraid to use his 5MPH of the limit cushion. (from my observation you have to be doing something else wrong to get cited for 5MPH over)

Other times it is the passer who has cleared the "slow truck" and is now pacing the douche that is holding up the truck instead of clearing the lane.

Time for the truck to move to the left lane and apply pressure....

Or it is time for the trucker to relax and let nature take it's course.

There is no 5 mph cushion.

Indiana issued a ticket to a friend of mine for 58 in a 55.

He tried the arguement for the cushion.

    Do not believe there is.

If the speed limit is 65, then the vehicle is legal that is doing the speed limit.
