"I have spoken firsthand with WA state patrol, and they are rather curious too, as I expected. If anyone delivers evidence into my hands I would turn it over to them."

You are a journalist, not an extension of law enforcement. In other countries journalists are sometimes killed because they are believed to be spies or working for the government. That doesn't happen here because real journalists don't get in bed with government. Get some ethics before you call yourself a reporter.

As I said, I write about transportation issues.

Something that WA state has a serious problem with; WA has no truck routes. There isn't a single dedicated truck route anywhere in the state. California has them, and automobiles get ticketed if they use them.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Care to explain this? I been running the West Coast for 20+ years and live near there and California has no "absolute" truck routes that cars can't run. If you're talking about the couple on I-5 in the L.A. area cars run them every day all day.

And here's a link for you to find out everything you wanna know about ANY carrier you wanna choose all you need is a DOT number or MC number or Name.

The hostility is amazing! It's a case study! ;)

Put away your tinfoil hats, I'm not here to study you or play tricks on you.

Personal attacks: Thanks! I'm sure that goes a long way to presenting the image that the public sees. That can't help your case against media representation.

Forum: Moderation is not evident. This would also lend itself to the media who do come here gaining a negative view.

Attitude: Amusing! There's a lot of humor here when you get past the ranting.

I think that most media people would be put off by your reactions. If you dump on "Professional Journalists" they'll just write a bad story about you, from a pseudo-neutral tone.

My kids: If your relatives are media, have them contact me, but it doesn't give your argument any weight.

Ethics: I write about ethics, have a degree in business ethics, and I lecture the military about ethics. I might know a little bit about it. Nothing I've said here is unethical, and to claim such indicates that you don't completely understand the word. Please read up on it before making such accusations.

TWO people have replied nicely, and given me some very interesting information. THANK YOU very much, because I now have something to research.

B.S.: I don't understand how you can call this on a question. I have only questions, and it is your responses that insisted I'm up to something.

I'm up to asking questions. If you don't like the questions, that's okay, but it doesn't make me wrong to ask them. That's Fascist.

Proofs: I don't have to offer you any proofs just to ask questions. I'm not here to set up anything or to make a story out of nothing. If I wanted to do that, you've already given me AMPLE ammunition. I'm just not like that, and I've never met a real reporter who is.

I could write a book on the problems in media, and I've read quite a few, but surprisingly, nobody has raised any of the standard complaints. It's all been paranoia, so far:
    * Nobody asked if I have stock in the SPI or any trucking company.
    * Nobody disputes that my work appears in the SPI.
    * Not a one of you asked if I write anywhere else.
    * No one here even questions why I would come here as a source.

So, just FYI... those are all valid questions that I'd typically encounter. "How'd you find us," or "What made you choose this forum" are common responses.

My advice is to simmer down, relax, and try to enjoy life more. Things are only going to get harder, and there's no sense in making things worse than they already are.

My Ex and best friend still owns a trucking company and still struggles to make it profitable. Your complaints are not falling on deaf ears. However, I can't fix everyone. I can only listen.

If you have biases, that's okay, but don't assume that everyone else shares them.

From this point on I will only respond privately to those who post something relevant or have a genuine question, and not an attack. I will not post further in this or any thread, for now. I have some things to investigate thanks to two of you.

I did notice some hatred of truck routes, as though they're somehow evil or wrong, and I don't understand that bias. Truck routes are trucks-only in some places, and I don't care to argue facts that are easily checked on google maps or DoT websites. I've never seen a main road or artery that is cars-only, 10K lbs or less, etc. If you know of a state highway that's limited in that manner, please advise me.

When the DoT builds a tens of millions of dollars truck-bypass, there has to be a reason for it. I don't really care what that reasoning is at the moment. That's not a salient point. To claim that it's discrimination against trucks is silly, just beyond all logic, and counter to any data I've ever read. That's like saying toll booths discriminate against blue cars. There's just no indication of any such thing.

Truck bypasses and truck routes are there for the benefit of the truckers, to ease congestion, guarantee safety, limit road wear, and reduce maintenance costs. I can't see where any of that wrongly identifies truckers. The flack I got from that one statement is probably the most mysterious complaint I've seen here.

The paranoia at least makes sense. :)

Regrettably, I am not an alien overlord, master trickster, or hype junky. Okay, I don't really regret any of those, but I'm not getting paid for this, remember?

So how am I benefiting? :D

That's rhetorical. You don't have to answer. Thank you all for your time, even the angry people.

    Happy Trails. I'm 10-10.

I've been reading this whole thread with interest and now I'll say my piece...

You sir are a ball faced liar!

No DOT numbers on any of the trucks or trailers that you claim you couldn't see anyway?
So, How do you know the numbers weren't there?
It sounds to me like you're makin' it up as you go...

If you are a reporter (I seriously doubt that you are) you have already shown your obvious bias on this subject.
Most of your story is so obviously BS that even a rookie can see through it.

You claim that you used to drive....I doubt that too because you haven't even got a basic understanding of how trucks are scrutinized these days and how the scenario that you have presented is ridiculous and couldn't even happen in todays trucking industry.

How do you know that the "effort was taken to present a false image"?
You claim to not remember any of the names involved and then you claim that none of the names are known on the west coast because you checked!

    So...Which is it?

    Really?

Other that a temporary use permit for new/used equipment...Not really.

I haul quite a bit of military freight and have hauled it for many years and heve never come across something so urgent that it circumnavigates the normal legal procedures for hauling that type of freight.

Once again, You're talking out the side of your neck!

    Another completely idiotic statement!

    10-4 on the imagination!

Why exactly did you come here?

To drum up stories for yet another hit piece packed with outright lies and exaggerations?

    Because honestly....That's how it sounds.

I don't believe you....Let me clarify my position for you: I believe that this entire statement is a fabrication (lie).

    Repeatedly...

    So what?

I can claim that I was the President of the United States before I was a big time trucker!

It would be a lie...But how would you know?

We'll all be sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for the next....Story.
