I am a small dude, 5'6" 135lb, been in just about all the roughest areas in the united states, never had hint of a problem with anyone trying to rob me, or attack me. Most truckers out there are people who are to lazy to get a real job, attacking some one takes work, physical exertion, and effort. Those are all qualities that most truckers who got into the industy swore to themselves they would never do. As long as you stay in places where there are a lot of truckers you have nothing to worry about in even the roughest neighborhoods. Only rule is when in a really rough neighborhood, dont leave the truckstop area and go walking around town if that is your thing, all bets are off then, you just left your safety zone.

If your a chick its a different story. There are a lot of predator wannabees and a few real deal se.xual preditors out there, I have seen a lot of those deekless fraggots verbally and even try to phycally be abusive tward other female drivers. My advise to a women driver would be to stay away from the big T/A truck parking lots and stick to the smaller more secure and well lite truckstops like Pilot, Flying J and Loves. Driving at night for a women as much as possible would also be an asset. If you are a women with a boyfriend or husband you will have no worries. All the preditors of that nature I personally have seen seem to be completely yellow. They will run as fast as they can, at the first hint of trouble. If you are a chick, never turn on your CB or talk into it unless you are at a shipper/receiver or emergency situation. I used 2 turn on my CB every once in a while while driving but stopped, now just use it for above reasons. Turning it on will just bread pointless fear and or resentment for you. A lot of the dudes who play CB rambo and talk cr.ap into it are super old, super fat whatever, kinda like the little sickly geek playing cyberbully type thing.

I've never had an issue in a TS....then again, I'm a big guy. Of course the rules are pretty simple. Don't do anything or say anything to anyone you wouldn't want said to your self. Be respectful, be safe, be courteous.

If you are worried about walking to the TS over visibility, get a roadworkers reflective vest. Some shippers and receivers require them anyway, besides they're good to have on the truck incase of a breakdown......never hurts to have one for the triangle walk.

Most of the truckers I've dealt with are pretty sane, reasonable people who have a job to do, just like you do.

I do agree on the CB and female part. Truckers are horndogs. They'll make comments, advances, unwanted attention and etc. Its our nature. We spend 10+ hours a day staring at our own reflection in the glass......a pretty girl definately will get our attention, and some of us just can't control the 16 year old within.

Common sense is the best defense. In my case it helps having a Charlie Manson look since I'm short. 99% of drivers are ok and won't bother you.

    just a tad, isn't he..??

    right on..

running is good also if you have to crap...

and i "second" the Gary, IN, comment...

also, try your best not to walk in-between trucks as well, cuz you never know when one is going to suddenly pull out, or the driver "pulled out" to take a pee.....he might be thinking you're a male lot lizard....if he smiles at you, you got a new friend..

walking IN FRONT is always best...

don't worry about getting beaten or robbed....if it happens, it happens, besides, maybe they just want to have "man love" with you, so keep your sleeper clean and neat and smelling good, with incense and "mood candles", and a big sleeping bag, and maybe some lube.........:biggrin_25525: (not that i know about all that stuff)

You eat off that buffet and you won't be walking! You'll be tootin and runnin for the potty! Make sure you keep your cheeks squeezed tightly together though other wise your next stop will be the laundry room!

I agree... NO truckstop buffets! That is, unless they rotate the serving spoons out every 30 seconds... LOTS of folks don't wash their hands after going potty, then grab ahold of those spoons... I'm not touching them.

I guess it's good you POOPOO your brains out afterward! You definitely aren't gaining any weight that way! Nobody is going to rob you if you got poo in your pants! Nothing like a stinky, mud covered wallet!:pottytrain4:

    Speak for yourself.

But seriously...carry yourself like a man and don't be an idiot. Show respect to other drivers and it'll be shown to you.
