So far comp has been okay. I haven't had any problems. Same deal, call every week and let them know how you are doing. I am just not sure how this is all going to play out. The way I am right now I cannot pass a DOT physical, and short of surgery I don't see that changing anytime soon. So I guess I will just take it one day at a time, and see what happens.

If your chiropractor said it was over his head I would find a new chiropractor.
As a firefighter/EMT I have blown out disc, pulled many muscles and pinched nerves allot. I do have a high tolerance for pain (feels good sometimes lol) but I have been to the point of almost not moving at all because of the pain.
My son would help with putting on my clothes and rolling me out of bed. I had pain in my back running up through my head/neck and down to my ankles. I had been to the E.R. had xrays, got pain meds (that did not help, just got me stoned) had an MRI that could not be read that friday and had to wait till monday and finally came back that I had blown out a disc.
During this time my son was taking me to the chiropractor every day for 5 days. As I got off the table the 5th day I bent over and tied my shoes for the first time in 2 weeks.
My chiropractor has helped me many times.

I WOULD NOT HAVE SURGERY ON MY BACK UNTIL I HAD VISITED SEVERAL CHIROPRACTORS AND THEY ALL SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP!!!

The back is nothing to let a Dr. play with until all avenues have been exhausted. I have picked up many patients that said they wished they had never had back surgery.

Good luck and I really hope you find a good chriopractor. My chiropractor at that time (i have moved) work with the Atlanta Falcons, so I know he has to know what he is talking about.

He has worked on my lower back for several years and done a really good job, he has also worked on my back up higher, but he does not like to mess with the c-spine, it is too easy to ruin someone for life. He looked at me first and was the one that told me I was way past anything he could fix. Once a disk herniates, there is nothing he can with it. That is nature.

    Lilbit and mtnMoma Thank this.

I say again FIND A NEW CHIROPRACTOR !! I had the Herniated disk and with a weeks treatment was in good shape with only some swelling of the Achilles tendon that lasted for a month or two.

I just called my chiropractor, He said that some chiropractors will not work on a herniated disk because they are afraid that they may rupture the disk.

Then you will need surgery to repair the ruptured disk, (don't figure because they just said you need surgery to repair the herniated disk) lol.

A herniated disk is where the disk is bulging out.
A ruptured disk is where the "jelly" has leaked out of the bulging disk.

I hope you take my advice and get another opinion.. I believe you will be glad you did.

    Good luck.

    mtnMoma Thanks this.

Firefighters in the southern states make a lot less and don't get the pensions like they do in the northern states. It is just about impossible to get one in Wisconsin or Minnesota unless you are a minority or female. A female minority, in like flynn. I tested in for St. Paul about a year ago. Over 3000 applied and had to pay to apply. They tested and interviewed 1000 people for 20 jobs. I graduated with a 3.96 gpa Fire Science degree and could not get a job unless I wanted to move south or went back and got a paramedic license as well. I wasn't too keen on the paramedic thing but if I had to do it all over I would have got my medic and went where ever I needed to go to get experience. Working one out of three days and retiring after twenty years is better than driving a truck.
