Did you guys get to test today or do you wait til Friday?
It was nice to meet someone I had read about on here lol. I knew that had to be you.
I have to take the written tests tomorrow, looks like most of the class will now as well when it wasn't looking good yesterday. I'm just glad I can go home right after the test. I need some desert and off roading after this week of painstakingly slow paced class. I wish I would of been in a small one like yours.Trilleth Thanks this. -
There were a total of eight(?) of us to test and apparently the graduating students got the priority.
I don't mind, except that I still have to keep the entire pre-trip fixed in my head for two more days. Heh.

We test tomorrow. Bleh.

Ditto on the meeting someone from here, although I hadn't realised you were starting so soon.
Glad you get to take the written tests. You're definitely ready... most of your class will do great. Not entirely sure about "Baeder Junior".
The class, sadly, doesn't go any faster if there are fewer students; there's just less repetition. Corporate in San Diego says go this fast... and that's as fast as you go. The only big difference is that a) we got to ask a lot of off-the-wall questions and b) we got to throw a football around during break.
Good luck tomorrow! I'll probably be by Monday to update Robert. -
Today we got in at 7 am (ahhhh, sleep) and started on our pre-trip. Then Taquito (the nickname I gave my only classmate) drove all the way down Magnolia... it took almost an hour. By the time we stopped, I was feeling pretty not-good. I have some pretty good stomach issues when I couple too much stress with not eating right and not enough exercise, bad enough to pass out, so I asked to hold off on driving. I went to the sleeper and just shut down for the hour back. By the time we stopped, my stomach had started to behave and I was ready to drive.
I drove all the way down Magnolia, we stopped for lunch, and I drove all the way back. I asked Gil if he thought I would pass the driving portion and he said I would've passed. I don't quite get up to posted speed with all those stop lights during traffic, but other than once or twice, at least I didn't feel too intimidated. I'm never going to love city driving, but I think I can manage it.
We got back to the yard and did round-robin for our skills. Parallel- got it. Straight-line, no problem. Unfortunately, the alley dock still takes me a bit to get and it was time to go. I know I can pass it, but I would've liked to have actually DONE it again before we test tomorrow. Ah, well. Trial by fire!
I crashed hard when I got back to the T/A tonight. I really like the people here, though. They all know me and treat me pretty well. I will be coming back here anytime we have to stop in this area and not make it all the way to SFS, $20 fee or not.
Got my shower in; now it's time to review one last time, shut down for a bit with a show, then sleep a few more hours before I get up at 4:30. DMV, here I come!thePUNISHER Thanks this. -
GOOD LUCK at the DMV!!! I'm sure you'll do fine! -
How's Gil for in-truck instructor? He was my classroom instructor. Very cool guy. It was only me and him for most of the classroom time, so we got to know each other some. I saw him recently when I stopped by the yard on the way back from a run. Tell him Steve at WS said "hey"...
Sounds like you're doing better. The magnolia run is always kind of nerve wracking, since it's only the second time really driving those beasts and traffic is bad, but that's why they do it, to give you city traffic experience.
Oh, it's $20 to stay at the Ontario TA now? Wow, when I was driving, it was only $12.
Good luck, you will do great! -
I failed my skills test, don't have the money to retest, so it looks like it's over.
Everyone has something they can't do; just wish I didn't owe so much money for figuring out what I can't. -
Sorry to hear that but I thought you get 3 tries at the dmv before you have to pay again? Then you have to pay $39 to retest after that, not $66?
-
Not according to the tester and my instructor.
I'm angry, too, because we only did skills Monday and Tuesday, then just once each on Wednesday and Thursday. We learned the skill (but didn't learn it /well/), then just stopped doing it for two days.
Not sure what to do now.
