Me too. Rates in IL/IN/MI/OH area are picking up also. $2/mile isn't hard to come by.
Ray, have you considered getting out of CA with LTLs? You can also add LTL(s) to a truck load (such as a 20-foot can) if the agent allows. Both Stockton and Fontana are pretty flexible. -
yeah I have been running pretty hard too.. Had a 3 stop insulation load with a final 20 miles from my house. Agent called before i got too the final and said they had a bundle at the lumber yard that need too go back down to channahon,il and wanted to know if I would be interested.. Hmmm zero dead head one 528# bundle at 2.35 a mile let me think.. Then she calls back and says oh when you take that one back I have another 2 stopper going back up to Wisconsin want that one too. 3 loads all under 7000#, over 1600 miles, zero dead head all paying 2.35 a mile. I can't complain.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

Katz, no I didn't look at ltl's because nothing was coming out of this area (las vegas).
I'm taking a load up to Seattle, reloading, and coming back down to near Bakersfield. that will keep my busy and I keep my spot on the eastern board where I'll be right at the top. Won't take anything cheap back east I know that.
I am being hurt by my truck not being compliant with CA regs for the ports. Could have had selection of loads today (Sat) but cant get in to load, and drayage services are not provided on Saturday (local truckers, 8-5, Mon-Fri). These EPA/CARB rules are out of control, and being adopted in more and more locations nationwide.
And then I saw frieght offered somewhere for 92¢/mile ... takes a lot of nerve to post that for a couple 48000 lb loads going 1500 miles. worse yet, somebody will take it. -
Nice! My average rate hasn't been quite that good. Maybe next week.
It's hard to believe, but I think you're right that somebody is going to take it.
Redd and I were sitting at TA in Ontario east for a couple days last October. I ended up getting a load going to Seattle for $1.68 or something. Just as I was about to leave for pick up, 3 Mercer drivers walk up to my truck and we talked for a minute or two. They were all taking loads out to SC at whopping $1.15. I don't know how those people stay in business. -
Have you already left Louisville? I stopped by the yard a couple hours ago. I saw one 780 and I went over to see if it was you, but he was going flatbed.
