Hi group. I'm not a driver myself, trucks that is. I do the cagers plus a bike. Joined the group because in doing a web search for CB repair, I saw that you folks have an excellent discussion forum which is not at all surprising. I live about a mile off I-81 so I'm in a great situation to sit and monitor what's going on with you guys and gals. I enjoy listening especially in the winter because if I'm needing to get out and travel I know that if the road is remotely but safely passable, I'll be able to find out from you. Amoung other road trips, my wife and I was on our way to New Orleans one December night and I was trying to make it to Fort Payne before getting gas. I followed a tanker that said that if I got concerned just give him a shout and he would spill some gas. Fortunately didn't need to but the reassurance was wonderful. Coming back home I noticed an 18 wheeler on the side with his reflectors set out so I stopped and gave the driver a lift back up to Meridian. I reckon you've guessed that was before the days of everybody having a cell phone. Also when I was gettng close to the Queen City I was talking to a driver that led me on a much quicker way through. BTW my Uncle was a retired "hand shaker". He went to work for M&D right after he got back from WWII. When he drove OTR, it was usually Kingsport to Atlanta which is not much of a trip now but prior to the Interstates was a different story. When he got closer to retirement, he changed to local and ran the Tri-Cities. I'm in healthcare but planning to retire in a bit. I guess that's about all I got to say other than "Thanks for keeping America's supplies moving - no matter where that may be!":biggrin_25515:
