I never had a trainer. My first trip in a semi, was from the yard in North Jersey into Manhatten with a 53' to deliver for the Christmas Spectacular. My boss at the time figured if i could get in make the delivery and get out with the truck in one piece, then I was a good driver. Well, i proved it with 48 more loads for the christmas show, Keith Urban's gear for the NFL kickoff, and all in 4 month's time with no accidents or incidents, I was a good driver.

I would need to go look at my logs for the exact time. It was the day before Thanksgiving. My trainer picked me up at the USA Truck Vandalia Ohio Terminal. He drove from there to Marion Indiana to unload at a Distribution Center there. He let me drive from there to the USA Truck drop yard in Indy where he did a drop and hook while I ran into the C1 school there for a min. Then I drove from Indy to Georgetown Ky. I would say about 4 hrs. We got a comdata code from USA Truck for several days in a hotel for me, and cashed it in at one of the Pilots there as we filled up. My next day of driving, I drove from Knoxville Tn to Little Rock Ar.

I am the same way,i always get tired in a car but not in a truck.
It really kept me from driveing before until a guy told me the same thing a couple years ago. -
Why do you think this happens?
I want to drive in a couple years and have worried about getting tired driving 11 hours a day. -

When I left the terminal in Van Buren, I was only supposed to run about 5 hours. My trainer fell asleep in the passenger seat after about 3 hours and we both forgot about it. I ended up driving all eleven, and didn't even feel that tired. Of course, I didn't realize how tired I actually was until my trainer forced me to pull it over ("LOL, you've already run your max hours, go hit the sack"). The second my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.
I guess I felt pretty proud of myself at that moment. I mean, when the trainer gets so lulled with you behind the wheel that he actually dozes off then you must be doing something right, LOL!
