6.5 to 7.5 depending on terrain and load....
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
You could figure 4.5 - 7.5 depending on your truck, your load, and your driving ability.

The first Mack (285hp) I drove gave very close mileage to the latest trucks we are using. The big difference comes in the ave speeds. The top end speeds we do are generally slower now and in flat country nothing in it between then and now. However in mountain country the newer trucks climb and descend a lot faster on the same fuel. You also had to be rowing that gear leaver in the mountains when loaded heavy in the older trucks.

I usually stay around 7. A little less if I'm loaded unusually close to gross or it's windy. A little more if things are right. The best I've ever got in my tractor was 7.5 and the worst was 6. Not too bad for an old P.O.S with over a million and a half on it, I guess.

5.8 to 6.5, it's an 01 ISX that really needs the overhead ran on it.. i'ma try to do it this weekend if i have time.. i'm pretty much always have 47k on the deck and doing 5mph over, more if i'm home in florida. I try my best to behave in other states.

I run 67 mph everywhere hauling a van (rolls of paper out of the mill and recyclable card-board back) so im usually heavy 74-80k. I average 6.47mpg at a cost of .55cpm. A good website to see people's actual fuel mileage is...mygauges....
