Seems as though whenever it gets hot inside of my truck, my radio will deadkey, but it just won't modulate. It'll start to work after I open the RF gain wide open, then I can turn the RF back down & it'll keep working. Any idea of what might be going on?
It's a Cobra 29 LTD Classic, btw.
Loss of Modulation when it's Hot Out?

Don't mean to come off like a smart-a, but you've got a broken radio that needs a CB shop. The transmit side has a component that is failing - its not uncommon for a solid state transistor to fail when it gets too hot.

The RF gain has nothing to do with transmit so this is just a coincidence or something on the board is burnt crossing things over. But either way you need a repair shop to go inside and find for sure what is breaking down but it sounds like you have a set of finals going out.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like I'll take 'er by a shop when I get a chance

Sounds like bad caps time for it to go to the shop
