i dunno, its hard to get on with any good company. but i do know the place i am working right now doing convenience store distribution, the work is hard enough phsyically that they hire fresh out of school grads, just hoping to snag some guys young enough that they can handle the job.

If I was you, i would hit up the redi mix, dump truck, and garbage truck companies first. there isn't anything like OTR straight trucks, so they would recognize the fact that the only way you can get experience is for someone to hire you and train you. it's not like ups or abf or yrc, where they can get experienced drivers familiar with the equipment already.

Like anything else your not going to walk in the door and jump into the drivers seat with any of those union companies.. Your gonna have to do your time dockside and work your way up over the years...

Providing local is what your looking for???? You might do better if your determined to drive by hitting the local hardware companies. True Value, Home Depot, or try dump trucks / asphault... There are a bunch of directions you can go. Another direction I didn't see mentioned here in earlier posts were car carrier, and wrecker companies.

Only you can decide if any of these are what you are cut out for.
