I have found the older Peterbilt 379's have more room than the newer ones. My 1999 offered much more space between the dash and seat than the 2006+ do.

ya, but you one of them slam-bang day cab guys.

Big difference with a unibilt behind you, you can slide the seat back into the sleeper & get the big strap slouch goin.

    Flying Dutchman Thanks this.

copy that...did not know it made that big of a difference. I thought the cab was the cab regardless, and the sleeper made no difference to position of driver seat. Thanks!

6-6 here Drove Lets see here T-600 T-2000 FLD's C120's Pete 379's both Unibuilts and the old Style even drove a 4070 Transtar and a 9370 International. For me the best one for my knee was the C120. What I did was pull the seat move it 2 holes back on the base then I had the room to move but not be cramped against the dash. Pets never could get comfy in them. FLD's were not to bad. T-2's I was always hitting my head on the roof of it.

I'm 6'7 and I've had both a 07 Pete 379 and a 03 Western Star 4900FA. Both are huge for leg room, once you unbolt the Peterbilt seat from its stand and mount it a little farther back. The Western Star probably has more legroom than the Pete, even with that cabinet behind you, you can really get the seat slid back far from the firewall. However, when you are stretched that far back, the dash is a lot harder to reach on the Star. Everything still felt user friendly on the Pete. I've driven a Freightliner FLD (cramped), Freightliner Coronado (not bad, not great legroom), KW T800 aerocab (decent but not great, short on leg room, close firewall), Int'l Prostar daycab (horrible, right got was very bruised up from the dog house).

There are several options for big guy seats. The Bostrom Wide Ride look great but they're about as comfortable as a wooden bench. The stock Peterbilt leather seats are actually very nice and comfortable! Best I've found though are the Sears Elite 80, I bought them for my western star. The Pete seats are very nicely shaped but a little on the narrow side. The Sears Elite 80s are maybe not quite as form fitting but still very comfortable, and definitely wider.

Have you driven the mack anthem? I’m also 6’6” looking to buy one. No dealer around me has one to sit in and I do t want to make the 4 hour drive for nothing.

I actually have briefly. Still not very roomy in the drivers seat. Zero room in passenger seat. Was a day cab though

I’m 6’2 and wish the seat went back further in my Anthem. I would also like it to be a little less upright, but with having it back as far as I do, there’s no room to recline it anymore.

Old thread but I’m 6’5 and find anything old with square hood is best because there isn’t all the dash pushed towards the driver. Old Pete 379 day cab even was great cause could stretch legs under the dash
