Yes, really. You can't see South-West from that side of Cabbage. You can see North-East, North, North-West and West. But not South. The Columbia River is on most of the North edge of Oregon. If you're looking at the Columbia from Oregon, you are facing in some way or other a Northerly direction.

Geez...sometimes this tweakin noses thing is fun! :yes2557::biggrin_2559:

I wrote this, and there was a writing error: "came out above the clouds with a SW view of the SW Oregon landscape. "

I said I 'made an error'. Looks like I made it twice huh.

OK, for those of you who were confused, IT SHOULD HAVE READ LIKE THIS.

"came out above the clouds with a SW view of the Oregon landscape."

I notice this cursor thingy jumps around quite a bit with my fat fingers.

Here is a link for snub braking:

    http://www.crashforensics.com/mountaingradecrashes.cfm

    from that link above:
"Snub braking became the recommended method of downhill braking as a result of the study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI). The following is the correct recommendation published in the current CDL manual:

Apply the brakes just hard enough to feel a definite slowdown. When your speed has been reduced to approximately five mph below your "safe" speed, release the brakes. (This brake application should last for about three seconds.) When your speed has increased to your "safe" speed, repeat steps 1 and 2.

For example, if your "safe" speed is 40 mph, you would not apply the brakes until your speed reaches 40 mph. You now apply the brakes hard enough to gradually reduce your speed to 35 mph and then release the brakes. Repeat this as often as necessary until you have reached the end of the downgrade."

End of quote from that link.

Oh, it's not you in particular, "Sweetie," it's the arrogance. No worries, though.

I'm actually kind of bored with you.

    Have a GREAT day!

I would think that when the owner of this site created it, it was intended for fun , for us to meet other drivers or their wives, to support one another,to learn new things, to stay informed about the trucking industry and the new regs. etc....we are all different, have different backgrounds, beliefs, ideas information to share and our own stories to tell. It is ok to disagree with one another, but it can be done politely (of course provided the other person is rational..lol) I wouldnt think it was the owner of the sites intention to argue, fuss, fight, call names, insult one another, we are all in this together, like it or not, joking around and teasing is fine, but picking on one another so as to put them down, or attack everything they say just to make yourself look good, is childish behavior, granted I only have a high school education and dont know or understand some of the words used on here, it doesnt make me stupid, or another person better than me, it just means they have a better education, or look up a lot of words LOL....I enjoy getting on the Forum every chance I get...and seeing what others have to say, learning new info, etc..I dont enjoy having my "nose tweaked" in a rude way or having my thoughts attacked simply because another doesnt agree, I see that a lot of the newer drivers on here, NOT ALL, but some seem to have an attitude ,and a need to prove us who have been out here longer, wrong...ON ANYTHTING or anywhere that might have an opening to do so, SOMEONE is always gonna know more than us, just like there will always be a faster truck etc. it is ok to be new..WE ALL WERE AT ONE TIME...and a lot of the newer ones have good ideas and appear that that are doing a great job of being a driver ( course I am not in the truck with them, so by that I mean the comments and ideas seem to be on the right track) but we arent all gonna get along...thats how life is, if someone rubs you the wrong way, stay away from them, dont go looking for them and any chance to attack, enjoy the other aspects of the site, if it BORES you to read the posts someone has made, when you come to it, skip over it, I thought the SITE was the purpose of the entertainment, not harassing the other members. I will get off my soap box now...lol, its scary up here anyway...dang thing keeps tipping over and makin me bout fall off!!!
