Has anyone heard of this?

I might use something that would let me extend my oil change like a spinner because I can see the dirt it gets out of the oil, but I will never fall for one of those scams that say you never have to change your oil.

 

I wouldn't risk my motor on something as cheap as an oil change.. Sure it's okay to buy synthetic, I would even go as far to say those bypass oil filters are worth looking into. (with those you have extended oil change intervals.. )

In any case you MUST do oil analyis at regular intervals. I would also check with the engine mfg. for warrenty info.. These "never" change your oil add on's might void your warranty. How much $$ are you saving if you loose this? I'd feel more comfortable letting some company with a thousand trucks try this mystery oil stuff.. If you only have 1 truck.. you get put out of commission and then what?

I personaly don't use either.. I actually change my oil every 12-15k mi. & replace all filters... Grease... all the time... I have almost 750k on my 2001 Pete with no major engine problems. I expect to easily get 1 million out of it. Then the truck will be about 15 years old.... (I don't run a lot of mi per year.. maybe 60k tops) Just a FYI, I do high, wide and heavy freight..

 

I bought a '97 T600, 12.7L series 60, with 350,000 miles. I always used 2 gallons of Lucas with 9 gallons of Rotella. I experimented with oil change intervals and found that extending oil changes from 15k to 20k made little difference in oil analysis or consumption. Going to 25k showed a slight rise in metal wear, but a large rise in consumption. That is how I settled on the 20k interval. When the truck had 999,500 miles a wrist pin broke and I had a level 3 overhaul done at the Detroit shop in Champaign, IL. Up to that point, oil consumption was less than 1 gallon between changes. The mechanic working on my engine said he could still see hone marks in every cylinder.

Somewhere along the way I installed a Spinner oil centrifuge, and as I mentioned you could see the dirt and soot that it was getting out, but I didn't notice a major difference in the oil analysis.
