Try reading through this--some Bs as usual--but some pretty good opinions also
Good Luck!
Oh and by the way--spreads do look cooler! LOL
But cool doesn't pay the bills!--Sometimes I hate being so grown up and practical!

95% of what I've hauled for a few years now is potatos and onions. I don't have one vent on this trailer and it's never been an issue

I like a spread axle like anyone else. I sure do miss ours. I've thought about buying another but they are hard on tires and with the tire costs these days I just don't know if it's worth it. Plus alot of these big cold storage places don't let you on the docks and they all have idiots loading your trailer. If a spread isn't loaded jut right you are screwed because you can't slide any weight around.

Get you a spread you can't go wrong. Make sure its a 53 not a 48 customers don't like them.

I've seen plenty of others do the same thing--it has everything to do w/where they load and where they are going--what time of year etc.--There is no question you CAN get away w/out them--just look at most of the large reefer carriers--BUT--I believe this gentleman is trying to spec his one trailer fleet(like many of us) in this case my advice is still to spec(if possible) for any scenerio so he has as much flexability as possible.
just my $.02
