Certainly not the small, privately owned fuel distributors. When I had my fuel jobber company, I made much more money when fuel was cheap. I had to buy from the tank farms owned by the big guys, and they set the price. Since I competed with several other private jobbers, I just couldn't raise my price penny for penny as fast as it went up and still keep my customers.wheathauler Thanks this. -
Finished off one milo contract today. Have hauling from another elevator but the pay has gone down. Strange, pays good going out 30 miles but not so good at 50 miles out. Bought diesel for 3.79 today.

They werent even latinos and have pretty nice eqiupment. Just courious what you guys are seeing as rates around wichita area. Of course you got your cheap ### debruce stuff but does it seem to be pretty busy rite now? I see quite a few new hopper boys running around.

One of the local guys with six or seven trucks went bankrupt last week. He was a small farmer that decided trucking was going to be a money maker and just started buying equipment and then cut the rates big time to stay busy, he hired anyone that walked in the door and had couple bad wrecks. Trucks were always having problems because most of the drivers I seen he had was balls to the walls and we don't have to pay for the fuel type idiots. I hears he owes the local Goodyear dealer $28k and then we have the fuel stop, repair shop and the bank waiting for their money. They say he just run all on borrowed money and the banker wasn't seeing any paid back so he just pulled the plug. I have a list of others I hope this happens to because this type crap makes it bad for the rest of us when we go and deal with customers, vendors and banks.
Adiós K & K Farms. Don't come back we don't need you in trucking.highside Thanks this. -

We pull a hopper here in Arkansas. Quite a bit of grain hauling around here locally but get over the road mostly. Stays pretty busy but you are right prices are a little cheap but I think getting a little better. We have been having to hold out on some loads for better pay. Starting now to get around $2-$2.30 a mile. When there's not a good enough pay job on that we pull for another trucking company van trailor.
