Im sorry but with fuel at $4 + a gal it cost me $.70 cents a mile just in fuel what about the truck note, maintenance, or tires at 22cents a mile this wont pay any of it a company driver makes more than $.22 cents a mile what do people think is there really this many stupid people in this world
Whats the point of being a Owner/Operator if your only going to make $550-650 a week that just pays my billes at home
How can people make it # $.91 a mile?

What a rip off. My rates (including my owner ops) the last few weeks have been over $2/mile. I charge 10%, owner op keeps the rest. Yes, there's some waiting for freight sometimes, but you'll easily get 2500-3500 miles per week. 90% of freight is paid weekly (for brokers with quick pay). I don't know how some guys make it. The lowest of low seasons (Jan/Feb), the lowest AVERAGE that I have seen was $1.65/mile.
By the way, this is all dry freight.... So yeah, $0.91 cpm is ridiculous -
Dude, it's the TRUCK that makes $150,000, not the owner. I'll simplify it for you. Truck makes $150,000 or whatever. Now come deductions, such as fuel, registration, insurance, maintainence etc. So, if TRUCK expenses total $130,000, guess what's left for the owner ? $20 grand. Owning a truck is a business, just like a small factory. Expenses first and what's left is profit. .91c per mile is from a company, which does the load finding etc. and the O/O pays for this service.
Working Class Patriot and ProPilot Thank this. -
You are choosing to make what you make, simple. You are a company driver paying the bills. You don't have the attitude of a true O/O. Stop whining and make some decisions to put yourself in a better situation to make money. Like the other poster said, you are running a company, not driving a truck and until you realize this you won't improve your situation. Good luck.

Hopefully the $.91 a mile is before the fuel surcharge with had better be way more than in the mid $.40's per mile. If not you are in serious trouble!
