Usually dont get on the flatbed division unless you are an A seat driver. get some miles under your belt then check with flatbed dispatch and see what they have to offer you

I passed my CDL Test this morning, and ALMOST did not go with PRIME. A local company, Brady Trucking is an oilfield outfit that hauls sand to the oil rigs. They have an OTR section , and offered to bring me on in three weeks when their brand new OTR rigs get in # the 11 yrs experience level. However, they said I would not always be OTR, but back and forth from the field. Good money, but I want to pay my dues OTR.

So Monday will see me staring at the south side of the Salt Lake Airport.

My trainer is coming in tonight, droping the truck off at the terminal for a PM, and were heading out in the morning. I can't wait to finally get back to work.

Personally I think you should have went the other route. Running both local and OTR would break up the boredom. Plus the money would be a lot better and you probably would have more incentive to stay with trucking in the long run.

I drive for Prime. Nobody makes me do anything I don't want to do. My truck is set at 65mph. And I get 7.25 mpg when I drive 65. Yes I have one of the small trucks but it was my choice as I prefer peterbilt over freight liner. I don't have nore do I need to have anybody hold my hand as I know how to run and make a profit. My question is for you and that is have you ever even drove for Prime?

1 St Day of orientation was better than expected.

    Expectations VS Actual

    1. Lunch: Chicken sandwiches VS Got to order off a menu
    2. Death by PWR point: 70's VHS tapes VS Interactive Labtop vids and tests
    3. Size of group: 20-30 VS. 6 fellers
    4. Roomate: Large Unwashed heathen VS clean cut cali feller

However, it was a long day for me. The recruiter offered to purchase a bus- if I had taken her up, I would have left at midnight and been here Sunday morning at 6 am OR leave at 1430 and arriver here at 0615 Monday morning. $64 value

So I bought a train ticket for $39.60. IT was SUPPOSED to leave at 1600 and get here at 2300, but as I posted this morning it was 4.5 hours late. Good training. Up all night write a small redundant book, then watch a plethora of vids on a labtop and test on the content of vids. Not to bad if I could make my brain fight through the fuzz.
