Using the E-ZPass and PrePass to track the trucks by the company is up to the company. The supporting document rules do not require the company to keep a list of which E-ZPass's are in which truck, only that the company must keep the monthly statement.

AS for the scales keeping track of dates and times trucks go. Some scales have a person sitting with a pair of bino's and a computer, logging company name and truck number of every truck the goes across the scale.

The scales that track you via the Pre-Pass are using an independent computer to read the Pre-Pass and track you.

I think that these days after 911,the cameras and data are recorded on your truck name and numbers, thats why they are supposed to be on your truck, that camera that sees you driving thru can photo the whole truck side going thru. I have seen canada check me out on when i came in and went out of their country,I think you are recorded there when you cross the scales there. I also believe the state scales can check your travels and record how many trucks your company is running at the same day in that state. Like on the ifta,a company has to pay more for ultiple trucks travelling thru a state, look on your states you are registered for and see,it may say 2,3 4,on certain states, there is a fine if you get caught running more trucks at the same day. I have seen companies get caught when their drivers running together thru the scales and get pulled out and checked. The prepass has to have time recorded and day somewhere, and if you or law enforcement want it they would have to give it. Think about it,what if you are concerned or wanted to find out if there was a mistake ,you need to be able to find out. Same thing with ez pass, time and date must be recorded somewhere for the billing purposes.

Both Pre-Pass and Ez-Pass do track the transponder, not the truck. In the supporting documents rules, the company doesn't have to keep track of which truck they are installed in. I know this for a fact.

Before Pre-Pass, Ez-Pass, or Q-Comm will give DOT or LE information they will need to have a subpoena. A judge will only issue one for a major incident.

All truckers need to find out what DOT can check and how they check your logs on a roadside inspection, on a DOT audit, and for a major incident. Every driver should read the supporting documents rules and understand them.
