Hey I'm about to aquire my A license (waiting to take road test) but I've been driving with a B class for 11 years the last 6 years have included OTR with various moving companies (Bekins, Allied)
I see that most trucking co want exp at least the ones that are paying good. Does anyone think a company will consider the exp I already have or will I have to start at on of these companies that accept school grads and pay 21-22 cents a mile?
I have a lot of respect for tractor trailer drivers and I know driving a straight truck is easier but I also dont think I should be thrown in the same pool as someone who never drove anything bigger than a sedan and went to cdl school
Will a company consider my B exp?

Do you have any experience driving a Tractor Trailer?

I thought 25 or 26 cents a mile was the lowest, but i could be wrong????

yeah I've researched and found that they'll give you 25 or 26 after 6 months at like 22 cents, then when you have a full year under your belt you jump up to the thirties , If I have to deal with that for a year I will , I realize you gotta start somewhere but if I can find a company that will give me a headstart due to all the OTR exp I have I'll take it.

They may count it as job experience but not driving experience. I have dump truck and straight truck experience and it has never really amounted to anything as far as starting pay. I was told that class A local driving was accounted for half a credit of experience as opposed to otr driving. Don't know how true that is though.
