Since it appears I need to make some response:
Yes, I was nervous. That does not excuse the teaching done wrong or not at all.
I could stay... I have neither the money to retest nor to stay 2 hours from home.

It doesn't sound like you were given the proper training to pass the test. I realize that a CDL school can't guarantee that everybody will graduate, but a couple hours of practice before being required to test isn't what I would call "training."
I hope you go back and document exactly what you did with your training time. Then talk to the school about how you weren't given adequate training and they need to give you more practice time. If that doesn't work, start researching California's consumer protection agencies. It looks like you have an internet connection and time to kill, so you should be able to find someone who can help you.
Don't just give up on this. If you paid for training you need to get what you paid for.Trilleth Thanks this. -
Just to be clear, I wasn't saying she didn't have the experience she did, I was agreeing with D1 in that I had the same experience he did at the school.
I wonder what has happened there to have things change so drastically. Sounds like she needs to talk to the person who signed her up and let them know that they did not have adequate practice before they were made to take the test. I know I would not be happy if I didn't have good time to practice then failed the test. -
Trilleth and thePUNISHER Thank this.

Glad to see you come to school today. Stick with it, I think you'll be alright now that there is another instructor there. And thanks for the scenic route today to lunch lol.
I think I'm ready to pass through the pretrip now. The day went well except having a guy release both of the parking brakes with the clutch in during the parking brake test. Had to reach up from the bunk and pull them as we started rolling towards the river. He panicked and just froze when it started rolling.
Hopefully get to meet you tomorrow Joe. -
Yeah, I feel better now that the "other" instructor will be there. I know he won't slack off and he will pretty much bully me into passing (kidding... mostly).
Hey, anyone who patient enough to take my scenic routes can have a ride anytime. -
... and you're still on for dinner if we should pass in the night, but I do come with baggage. *runs very far, very fast, before her baggage catches up to her* -
Okay, I went in today determined to ask for part of my downpayment in refund so I could take the pay-by-the-hour class near my home long enough to finish. Ran into the instructor I had in the classroom (and DirtyBob) and he told me he's teaching in the yard next week. I hung around to help with pre-trip (is it sad that I actually like pretrip and brake test?) and it looks like I have a place to stay next week. Just working on the gas (and trying to surpress my pride *wry smile*).
Deserted/ Warpdrvr, I'm not doubting your experiences at all. I'm just wishing that's how mine had gone. I'm apparently not the first student to mention it, but I'm not entirely sure San Diego cares?
Anyway, I'm hanging out again (because there's not much else to do while you live in a truck stop) and waiting for Joe to get here tomorrow. How dare he run out of hours so close to me?
I'm going to go for a run before my next test. That should make me utterly incapable of stressing out. -
Trilleth, I very happy to see your sticking with it. You will succeed and YOU WILL get your CDL. We are all pulling for you here and you know you can come talk to us anytime you need. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
jeddomike Thanks this. -
Trill, can you by any chance just post a first name of the instructor who wasnt helping? I am curious as to who you had, I had Don, and I know warp had Wayne, both were very thorough, maybe things have gotten tougher down there, I think I will stop by after making my rounds monday and see if I can get a feel for things. Honestly I wish I knew what it would take to teach, I know im pretty good at helping others with learning all that I went through.
