Scales at Marion, IL last week had both sides pulling in drivers and checking papers, permits, logs. Pre-Pass shut down. Backed up on both sides. They really need the money!

I hear this every week. Driver's always ask, why is there DOT everywhere? We are not doing anything different than we do every day. Scales open up and roving units are on the road. Portables are always out and about as well. Some days you see us, other days you don't. Some days we are in court, some days in training.

I-35 between Austin and DFW has always been a hotspot for enforcement. Lots of population and traffic, and lots of truck drivers trying to drive like Mad Max in Road Warrior. Law enforcement works where they're needed.

You can usually avoid DOT inspections by driving at night. That might be hard for some to get use to but if you can get use to it you will also make better time cause there is less traffic and when you get to the truck stop or rest area in the morning, there will be plenty of places to park.
