I've never had a PO box so you're really asking the wrong person..

 

Just FYI a post office box will cost about $37 for 6 month and will be more for a bigger box- don't quote me here but I know someone who got one recently

 

I never thought of the PO box either. Sounds like a great idea.

 

Rental fees on PO boxes vary in cost based on location. I pay $40.00 a year. If I go to the neighboring borough, I would pay $60.00 for the same size box.

With a PO box, I believe any mail not picked up within two weeks is returned to the sender... so she'd have to commit to stopping by there somewhat regularly. Also, the lobby (where the boxes are) usually has longer hours than the window (where you're assisted by the postal employees) does... which gives you more time to get there during the week.

 

As far as a donation box, a paypal account would work too.
