lol I can relate to the curtain slamming! We're in a plastic truck now (Freight rattle and roll! lol) and I have learned that if you slam the curtain just right, it will come out of the track!
Boy! Does that ever go over great! I too, have my cosmetics and girly things... my hubby is great now and will put up will me just as I put up with him! Love him!

oh yeah, they have a fit if that curtain comes off the track. ha ha

Dave, I know that you posted this about 2 years ago, but I just happened upon it today. I have been 'on the road' with my husband for 3 years now. When I first 'got on the truck' we were just dating and he invited me to go on a run from Tennessee to Vermont. I have always loved traveling, so I jumped at the chance. Well, the load to Vermont got repowered, and suffice it to say I didn't get back 'home' for 2 months, LOL. By that time we were planning on getting married and I was in love with the OTR life as well as with him. After 2 years on the truck I had learned to do everything except drive, so we discussed it, he talked to our company which operates a training school and made arrangements to be my trainer when I completed the 3 weeks of school. That was a year and a half ago. We have been driving together since Sept 2010 and as a full team since Dec 2010.truckerdave1970 said: ↑Maybe this is a subject for a new thread. Mods, feel free to move it if appropiate!
How do I convince my wife of 17 years to join me on the truck when all my kids are grown? (5 years from now) I cant help but think if my wife was with me then this wouldnt be such a crappy job.
For those of you that have your wives (or husbands) with you, what are some of the pitfalls? things we should avoid? I would love to hear your stories.Click to expand...
Things have been a little more stressful since I finished training because we always get the loads that have to be run non-stop for 48 hours or so, leaving us extremely tired, but I wouldn't change my life for anything. I can think of no better way to spend my days and nights than with the love of my life.
You do need to take into consideration that you will be spending almost 24hrs per day/7 days per week in an area not much larger than a walk-in closet, that was our biggest hurdle at the beginning because neither of us was used to spending so much time in such a small space with one person.
Has your wife ever gone on the road with you for a week or so? It would probably be a good idea to 'test the waters' with about a month before you 'dove off the deep end' and made permanent plans.
I wish you the best of luck.rookietrucker Thanks this. -
