What ever you do, Dont use a wrecker service. Just have it loaded on a landall or lowboy trailer and haul it. Wrecker companies will rape you in charges.

try to find a repair shop that is willing to rent a fifth wheel wrecking boom. My brothers truck broke down in Indianapolis so i had to go to chicago rent the boom pay 250 and 400 deposit and a copy of my license. I hooked up truck and got to indianapolis and started to make my way to wisconsin to tear down my brothers truck

I don't know where in TX your truck is located but Drake's Towing is in Madisonville about 100 miles N of Houston and they treated my right a few years ago when I had trouble. You might talk to them and see if they can help you out.

I've done a lot of towing, and you'll want to stay away from regular towing companies due to the radical cost... best scenario is a step deck, and pulling the thing onto a loading dock or ramp so it can be loaded.

Just for curiosity sake, what do they charge down where you all live for a big wrecker?

My uncle charges $170 an hour including FSC and taxes, and knowing the amount of work done, the cost of the truck, and the qualifications the driver needs it's actually not that bad.

In Missouri I was charging 150.00 hook up 25.00 to pull driveshaft, and 3.00/mile just the tractor and 4.00/mile for tactor and trailer. The way was taught to charge in wrecker school was that a truck that cost 100,000 should make 100.00 and hr. and so on. But on accidents we was taught to screw people because insurence companies pay the bill. Its very crooked but I was just a peon doing what was told by the owner.
