Well, have been driving for a year and a half now. After working white collar for 30 years, this has been an education in so many ways.
Thought originally I would work a year or two to get the experience and then purchase a truck outright. Read all the threads about the horrors of leasing and then spoke with a couple of JCT drivers. Both were very happy to give their .02 worth but overall were very satisfied.
Have driven for Wiley Sanders since getting my CDL and have no major complaints. I have been very lucky in having a dispatcher that is a wonderful person and I will miss having him behind me.
I have read all the posts on JCT and my overall impression is good. I realize that this is a business and the company, JCT, is in the business to make a profit. I don't mind running hard, have always tried to run legal, and have never refused a load (though my first week taking two loads into NYC was a puckering experience). I have been lucky as I have made my share of newby mistakes but managed to overcome and not cause an accident or injury.
I am looking forward to meeting some of you and working for JCT. Am scheduled for orientation on Mar 23.
If any of you have a recommendation regarding equipment, would like to hear from you. Have been driving KW exclusively at Wiley. Most of their equipment is older though they have been purchasing some new equipment this year. My newest truck which I have been driving for the past year is a 2001 with 760000 on the odometer. First truck had 1600000 but new drivers always get the older equipment and for good reason.
Have only driven van so driving reefer will be a completely new experience for me. Advice is always welcomed. I have enjoyed reading the posts on this thread. Sounds like a good family atmosphere.scottied67 Thanks this. -
All I can tell you is good luck. Hope you dont get our 2010 Int. we just turned back in. It is a big money pit along with alot of other trucks they have.
ukdon Thanks this. -
Those new Internationals are getting a lot of bad reports from other fleets. Plus, they are a heavy SOB.

Well folks I hate to break the bad news to ya but I am going to decline my invitation from JCT to attend orientation on the 21st as I have received a MUCH stronger offer than what JCT is offering me which will allow me to make more of the choices of where and when I go somewhere, my hometime and be more in charge of my business than what JCT would be allowing me. I do appreciate all the great info that everyone has provided to me during my decision making. My decision is due to NO negativity from or towards JCT and I would still highly recommend them to anyone, I just got lucky with being in the right place at the right time for a very tremendous offer that I just cant refuse. Good luck to all and be safe out there!!!
scottied67 and dabs Thank this. -
If those internationals have a Maxxforce then yeah steer clear of those! GARBAGE
