I just picked up my 387 from the Pete dealer where I had the shift-tower bushing replaced, isolator and detent springs. My problem was in 3rd and 7th, it would kick out of gear alomst like it wasn't engauging fully. $400 later, the dealer siad it still isn't fixed and is more likely a probem inside the trans with those gears and they are damaged?
Just wondering if you guys had any ideas what might be the problem. It has 517k miles on it...... It stay fine in every other gear, but is "sloppy" in 3/7 and you have to hold it into gear or it will just slide out (doesnt KICK or pop) just floats out of gear.
13spd Issues...any ideas?

Remove the shift tower, inspect the front fork (closest to the bell housing) Its likely worn out along with the drive gear and overdrive gear. Sometimes you can get away with changing the fork and buying you some extra time before you have to rebuild the entire front box. I guarentee you the shift collar, 2 gears along with the fork are worn out. Common problem with your symptoms

I had the shift-tower bushings replaced, detent springs and isolator. Parts were about $100 and 2hrs to replace...... I just don't have the time to do it on my 3 days off due to other obligations.
I will look into the fork and gear situation. It has a warranty from Eaton, plus a Premium Plus trans warranty, but the dealer says it would take at least a day to tear into it and find the problem, then fix it. I only have Monday off when they are open and on a dedicated contract, so 3 days down isn't an option right now, guess i wont be using 3rd/7th for a while LOL
