heres one ya'll are not gonna beleive. saturday i went to the lot to pu a fld i had to do some bodywork on. i get in the truck which JUST had the transmission rebuilt ( 10 spd eaton) 1st and 2nd gears were fine went for 3rd not there neither is 4th all this thing wants to do is grind . so back to the lot i go and find our south of the border mechanic. he says i fixed i fixed i say no the f you didn"t fix. so we get in go around the block with him driving 1st gear good 2nd gear good. then he goes into low for 3rd and into 5th fgor 4th then into the 4th slot for 5th gear and so on in the high gears. he had used a bunch of used gears and input shafts out of a super 10 transmissin and turned this h pattern into a u pattern and it actually worked. after a call to our owner and told him what this bean eating idiot had done he was told to fix it right at his own expense and it better be right with a H pattern. now after going to 2 worlds fairs and 3 south alabama goat fn's i aint never seen anything like this. so the moral here is if the mechanic don't speak english DON'T LET HIM FIX YOUR TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i still can't beleive that it actually worked. Now let's see if it works after he fixes it with the right parts. My money is on it not shifting at all.

That's pretty impressive that a convoluted mess like that actually did work! :biggrin_25521: I'd hate to have to get use to that shift pattern!

That is priceless. It is pretty amazing that he could put all that together and know how to make it work. Not sayin' I would want to drive it, but I am impressed with the ingenuity. Kinda sounds like the shift pattern in the old twin stick Macks.

We had a box pattern on some old fords. Called it a California 8.
First and second were correct. Then Third was where 4th is and 4th is where 3rd goes.
Then it uses the same pattern in the top gears.
    Shifted in a square.
Until I saw that you said he had a gear stuck in the low position, I thought he may have swapped gears with one of those. Eaton Fuller made that tranny too.
