Ok, its been two years but hears the bad on Ft. Worth. Motel is nothing to brag about. Theres nothing around there to eat. Hope you like airplanes. Your on final approach to the Air Force Reserve runway. Mostly on wedesday. But you do see some really cool jets up close. The yard at the driving range is dirt. Its ok, just pray it dosent rain. Lot of hurry up and wait. And wait some more. Thats what sticks out in my mind. Theres other little things, but Im sure it happens were ever you go. But remember, your there for a reason. For me two good things happened. I got my CDL, and met some great friends that I still talk to.

I am getting ready to start with pam and from what I understand, all new students must team for 6 months unless there is no one within a 50 mile radius of where you live. then you will solo til they find someone close to you. The low pay is for all miles of the truck / team pay. hope this helped

Well it helps the new guys straight line back when the truck just has to move through the grooves dug into the muddy truck range. -
When my better half finished school and started with PAM, they told him 17.5 cpm but when he got his paycheck he only got 14 cpm. They told him that was because he was driving team, but that was when he was training. He has driven team since out of training (in July) and still making crappy money. Problem is... if he breaks his contract, they charge $6k for the school, whereas if you finish the one year contract I believe it only costs $1500. There ya have it.

I had my license but was off the road since 2005. had to go back thru school. I start with a trainer sometime nex week. i was told .18 per mile after trainer. (300.00 week with trainer blah) anyway, my husband is coming to pam as experienced driver not sure what his pay will be. They seem like a pretty good company so gonna give them a fair shake.

Great info though -
I started C1 in Fort Worth on March 7th 2011 and love it. The instructors are awesome and I have not met one bad apple that works here. They make learning fun and still remain professional. I looked into C1 at Fort Worth for a year before I left law enforcement and committed to attend. I read plenty of negative blogs and reviews about C1 in Fort Worth. I prepared for the worst but it has been nothing but GREAT. I am now into my 8th day here and have NOTHING BAD to say about my experience. We have a couple of students that do nothing but complain but it is their fault. They don't study and they fail their DOT tests and blame it on everyone else when it is their fault! We started with 26 students and are down to half of that, most had to leave within the first 3 days. A tip: If you have warrants, unpaid traffic tickets, can't pass a drug screen or can't pass a physical or a vision test don't bother to apply. You will be sent home, QUICK!!!!!!

Glad you're having such a great time. When you get on a trainer's truck, I'd expect you to know how to do a full Pre-trip then. Let us know how that goes.

Just like dj, I, too, am a driver with PAM, just got upgraded to trainer after three years solo. The best piece of advice I give you is to keep an open mind and a positive attitude. And since you're taking your school in Texas, I cannot stress this enough: Learn a full pre-trip inspection, and have your trainer go over it with you as well, because when you go to Tontitown, the pre-trip is a REQUIREMENT for upgrade to first seat. Best of luck to you!

I heard something about an orientation what happens there?3) I have signed on for team how bad is it running teams?4) How old is the average tractor?
