I am not sure but 5:00 a.m. is a bit early to be on the road with something that size unless they had special permission to travel in the dark. Sunrise was 6:15 a.m.
-
They may not have been traveling as they were on side of the road, truck hit pilot vehicle throwing it into o/s carrier...
-
If they indeed were not travelling, what were they doing on the side of the interstate with a load that wide? If they were in trouble or broke down, you'd think the pilot car would be back further. Oversize or not, you still need triangles out if you are stopped for 10 minutes or more. Something doesn't add up.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- A semitrailer hauling an oversized dump truck bucket was in violation of its Colorado transportation permit when it was crashed into by another semi around 5 a.m. Tuesday.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I'm thinking the oversize was at fault. I used to do the "heavy-haul" scene and I had to be OFF of the road until my hours to run came around.
chalupa Thanks this. -
in colorado oversize loads can run at night.chalupa Thanks this.
-
i will also add only if he has required lighting and escorts and a few other required provisions.
-
News story says they were only allowed to run during daylight hours.
-
I just wonder what the driver that hit the pilot car and the oversize load was doing that he didn't see either of them?
metric adjustable, snowblind and Giggles the Original Thank this.
