Those do not qualify as 'sitting duck' incidents according to Stevens. You are in the Emergency Pull-off area for a true emergency. 'Sitting duck' is when you pull off to 'relieve' your bladder, check QC, read a map, take a 10hr break, etc.

My concern was how black and white stevens is with their policies... but the QC message came across today, which clarifies, and this time the rule is the same rule we have always had, just going to be enforced with a stronger penalty. And I agree with the rule.. their is NO reason to pull over into the emergency breakdown lane, unless you have an actual emergency.
Releaving yourself is not an emergency. -

yea when your eyes are floating... should have stopped at that last rest area
Setting here at the General Mills plant in Hannibal MO... waiting to be worked in for my delivery since I am early. Nice 72 today, slight overcast, and just enough of a breeze to keep the truck cool... I love spring. -
Im sitting in Albuquerque after dropping at Wally World in Los Lunas last night. took my 10 hr here and had been told to head to Liberal
Get 10 miles down the road and get a call. Wanna do a repowerr going to Cali instead? Ahhh Hell yea !!!
So Im back at the Fly J waiting for the repower to get here. -
Got off the yard here this afternoon, made it all the way to the 30 before Safety calls and says, "come on back!"
Seems a person complained about my driving. Said I cut them off.
I know the incident. Turned onto the onramp Northbound 635 from the right left turn lane. If you know that ramp, it has both the lanes merge right. I had turned into the right lane, watched carefully as all the cars on my left passed me up, then when there was no space left, a red minivan zoomed out from behind me and tried to race up the left side of the ramp to pass me. She was driving on the grass!
There wasn't enough room to get past me (I had slowed anyway) and she had to brake so not to hit the sign post.
Then she calls tosay I cut HER off!
Anyone that knows me, knows I am about as laid back as a driver can be! I know no one wants to follow a truck. I ALWAYS let cars come around, even if I have to brake some.
Back when I was in training, both my trainers told me I wasn't aggressive enough.
Oh, well. I get to watch a couple videos, attend the VDPD class again tomorrow morning, then head out again.
Oh yea...then after she got on the freeway and passed me up, she cut off two other cars, a Walmart truck and another truck.
Crazy drivers here in Dallas! -
I'm slowly realizing that there is almost no incident that cannot be blamed on the actions of the professional driver.
Emulsified's experience is a perfect example. He did what was required of him to "protection the motoring public" even when they seem like they WANT to hurt themselves lol. Shirley Muldowney gets to keep driving like a whack job while Emulsified loses another day's pay and gets to have safety's bullseye on his back.
Shirley was probably angrier at the fact that she embarrassed herself in front of rush hour traffic than she was because you "cut her off". All it too was a phone call with her side of the story to make a problem for you.
It's ridiculous....but heavy is the head that bangs repeatedly against the steering wheel out of frustrations courtesy of the motoring public...or something like that.
Good luck Emulsified....hope they don't decide they need another driver on Fleet 50. -
Sorry to hear that Emulsified, thats so rediculous. People like that should be taken behind the barn and shot.
