Hey everyone,
Well, I finally did it!! I got my Class A CDL about two hours ago & I'm still shaking lol. I should have taken the test one month ago, but I was extremely sick so I had to reschedule it for today. Considering how nervous I was, I really did very well. It says (10) points were taken off out of a maxium of 50. The test instructor was awesome...really nice person. I basicly laid it on him about how i've wanted this since I was 5 years old & he realized I was nervous. He just laughed and said don't worry I'm not a ball buster & we actually had a 5 minute conversation.
I did great on everything except for forgetting about the wipers & I was too far from the curb on my parallel parking....It was about 2 feet too far from the curb. Everything else was great he said.
So I finally did it, I have my 300 hour certificate with P.T.D.I, Hazmat Endorsement & Job placement for life from my school. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone!!! I'll keep you all updated![]()

WTF??????? They make you parallel park those things. Man, I don't know it that's something I'll EVER be able to do. oh, well, hopefully I'll learn. by the way.......Congrats.
-
I can't speak for Chris but our "parallel park" was a manuever that when your done the trailer is at a right angle to the tractor. our instructors with years of experience told us they NEVER had to park a trailer at a dock like this.

Hey thanks alot everyone
Yeah, my instructors said parallel parking is very rare in trucking, they just make us practice it just incase. Also because it's on the road test. The way they make us do it is....1st they tell you to put your four ways on and stop in the middle of a side street, 2nd, you must get out and walk to the back of the truck to see if anything is blocking you or whatever.."Whenever Backing" Next the instructor will tell you to do a straight back, then finally your told to do the parallel park. '
Once you get the hang of it it's really not that hard. Practice makes perfect. If you have to do this on your road test, just try to relax...unlike me lol and you'll do fine. Good luck and thanks for all the replies everyone.

Congratulations!!!!

Yes! Congrats all around. Vested time and effort, now paid in full. For me, it was mostly just a relief. It's nerve-racking being evaluated one on one in real time. Especially while doing something potentially hazardous with only limited experience. I really think I do my best work when nobody's looking. But evaluated you were, and you made the grade... To pass through to the next level. So rejoice while ye' may brother, 'cause that clang we just heard was the bar being rasied. For us... work to do, work to do. More things to learn, and money to earn (Finally). Welcome to the club, continued success, and keep us posted.

Hey just a quick question. I was wondering why they told me to go to DMV in exactly 7 days with my road test evaluation sheet to get my CDL. I was wondering why that is? Thanks In Advance
