    OK guys and gals,

Because I need automatic shift I believe I have narrowed it down to US Xpress or Averitt Express. Who would you go with and why/ why not?

I am new so I don't have the luxury to go with one of the companies that require a year or more experience. From what I can see, these 2 are palatable for the year.

Thanks in advance for your information and insight.

    Ron

I would say Averitt,( they have a better Rep.) but you left out Maverick. I would look at them as well.

I also liked them but I am not sure I want to get into the tarp thing, I have not heard a lot of positive things about tarping.

I run team with usx and we have only gotten 2200 miles a week for the last 2 weeks. Its killing my pockets. My brother also drives for usx and today he called me to say his disbatch sent him out to find an mt trailer. He was supposed to p/u his load in Frankfort Ky at 10am. They sent him on the hunt starting at 8am, he went from TN to Louisville and finally at 6pm found an mt. Needless to say, we are getting a little po'ed. Good luck what ever you decide to do.

hey K.B.A you should tell your Brother to check out the Wal-Mart Account, My miles slumped the second week of January to 2200 and picked up the last week of February and have been at 2800+ a week if you want the Extension to Wal-Mart Send me a Private message and I'll hook u up with the Account Manager and his Extension the major requirement is 1 year experience and no accidents and no probation with the company

i worked for useless xpress for about 3 years finaly got fed up and left them in 05.the problem low miles,i don't know if they are still doing it but they were starting to put alot of there freight on the rail and not just coast to coast freight they were taking loads from north carolina to texas and droping them at the rail yard in atlanta ga.they claimed this was going to benifit the drivers by getting them more freight.:biggrin_2559:the only people this benifited is max fuller and pat quinn.they could have there drivers pu freight from customers drop the loads at the rail and pocket the fuel surcharge they charged the customers and at the same time you keep your more experienced drivers tied up at the rail yard's but i guess the whole 10 dollars they gave us for taking loads to the rail yards was supposed to make up for loosing several hundred miles i guess thats how usx can afford to have the "white house"looking down on i 75 on the north side of chatagnooga tn. what else can you say for a trucking company whose headquarters doesn't have parking for trucks.all that says to me is yes we want you to make us money but we don't want to have to look at you.real pieces of crap if you ask me:biggrin_25510:

Had a change of heart here. Looks like I might end up at USX. I will keep everyone posted if I do.

Not sure I can help as I just started last monday. Orientation was $300 for 3.5 days. you will meet face to face with recruiter, fleet manager, and owner (Gary Sassar) who will shake your hand and THANK YOU for choosing averitt. They will tell you no promises about miles and say about 2200 miles a week is typical. The drivers I talked to this week all say they want city driver or shuttle driver pos. when possible as these seem to be gold. They are not 100% automatic fleet yet. still working on this, as I was assigned a 2004 volvo w/10 speed. this is the oldest truck in fleet. 365000 miles on it. Home every weekend for 36 to 48 hours and holidays off, paid after 3 months at 450 mile day rate pay. Wont get rich at 2200 miles a week but so far so good
