Hey all,
I am in a bit of a situation. I have a great job driving for an o/o and am getting paid very well. I am running team with my boss and he is teaching me so much, and I am forever thankful. I took a week off for my daughters birthday and was supposed to go back out this morning. Well, my boss decided to take a week another off, big deal I have managed my money good enough to handle this.
Well, about 2 hours ago I get a phone call from him saying the truck caught fire last night at the yard and he is not sure the cause. The truck is at Cat right now and they are looking into it taking pictures to send to the insurance company. I cannot afford a third week off.
This whole issue has got me worried that even though every repair, no matter how minor or major it is, is attened and fixed promptly that I may be risking my career so early into it.
I want to be loyal to my boss, since he has done so much for me; giving me the opportunity for a great job and teaching me so much. But, how far is to far? Should I cut my losses and find another job?
Help, please

I think those are issues to be discussed with ur boss, especially if he's done so much for u... also ur family (wife) if u have one.

Sounds like you're wondering if "bossman" is jivin' you, right ? He decides to take a week off, then the truck catches on fire. Co-incidence ? I would slip down to the CAT shop and verify condition of truck. You, being a driver, wouldn't raise any suspicision doing so. I mean, you need to know so you can move on, right ?
outerspacehillbilly and Strider Thank this. -
i would bail out..it can be a very long time before he gets it repaired. his insurance may not provide another truck for him, or he may not have extra money to get one (rentals i am speaking about)..he's only an o/o who probably DOES NOT pay you dead head miles or benefits.
this is a losing proposition working for an o/o.....bail out now while you can.
what will you do when he says he isn't going to get the truck fixed or he's closing up his shop...????
look at the dark side of working for an o/o....they are NOT thinking about YOUR best interest. -
I dont feel that he is doing that, I just dont want to get myslef in a position with this new CSA 2010 bs.

BAIL OUT....
YOU GOT 96 CSA POINTS driving this dirt bags' truck...???
BAIL THE "F" OUT......
further, those CSA POINTS ARE ON YOU for not doing a proper pre-trip or anything else YOU DID WRONG...
what was he "teaching you"....?????
how to run raggedy old equipment...??
with out even getting that PM from you, i "saw a problem"....
Jesus H. Christ.....BAIL THE "F" OUT.....!!!!
DID HE CARE ABOUT YOU...??? HELL NO.....YOU GOT THE POINTS....NOT HIM.....!!!
WHAT A SCREWING YOU TOOK......... -
You gotta eat. I think you already know what you need to do after two weeks waiting.
Good on you for your loyalty, but that doesn't buy much at Kroger. If I was your boss I sure wouldn't be offended and would call you first when I got things sorted out. -
ok...i have now figured it out, thanks for the "joke on me"
if this wasn't a "joke" thread, i would have said, "YOU WALK AWAY"..
but i am out, this is a joke thread, you got me pre April Fool's Day....!!!
good bye..
