ok i too find fault with your thread...tell me of an occupation that REQUIRES skill and knowledge, that DOES NOT require schooling at a price...???

some schools finance through a bank of course, so you WILL PAY finance charges....do you have a credit card or two...?? if so, check the high interest rates on those....many are above 20% (even more...!!)

you must have other issues as well, like a bad credit score, unusually high job turnover rate (yes, YOU, do you quit jobs frequently..??)

i see no actual reason given why you cannot get financing and be done with it...

how do you suppose the others go to trucking school...??

i can say that at my particular employer (school) we DO NOT HAVE financial aid, you are required to get your own financing...or we work with the state and the WIA program.....

you do have other issues, 2 years and you can't get into a school...??

realistically, who are you trying to bulldoze...???

my thoughts exactly.....he's got issues....maybe medical, maybe credit, maybe unstable work history, whatever.....

I won't get a job with a major carrier because I'm not going to sign a contract, and I don't think I should have to.

There needs to be other ways of starting out than just a contract. That's what makes it a scam.

CR England wont hire me because my blood pressure was to high 150/whatever, however, I can pass a CDL physical.

    Agreed:yes2557:

I up to my arse in College dept. And worse yet-Ohio and the Fed butchered all the places I was going to work by cutting funding. So to be competitive I would need ANOTHER degree to maybe get what jobs are left. So lets rack up another 15-25k.

Sure the selection can/does suck for new drivers; but these cats are hiring. Could be worse.:yes2557:

Its a pay the piper situation. But the outlook is strong if one goes in with eyes wide open; and keeps a positive attitude.

You're going to have to get that blood pressure under control. If I'm not mistaken, that level limits you to 3 or 6 months on your fed med anyway.

So, get some BP meds, and try again. I find it funny that you're trying to get three steps ahead of everyone else, in every industry, but you shouldn't have to pay for a school that gets you there?

How does a school like Sage train you for free? They have a building, light bills, admin folks, trucks, and instructors to cover... but you should get your training for free?

Its not hard to get it down, Trust me, you want to get it down:yes2557:
I had a serving of humble pie at my DOT physical. 138/100.
Cut smoking, halved my caffeine.no more salt, went on bp meds ($10.00 for 90 day supply) at WalMart...feel MUCH better and in a week for my next DOT physical...I think I will pass with flying colors.

Well, you shouldnt have to sign a contract? Why?

Are there other ways to start out other than a contract?
Why dont you do that? Instead saying a contract is a scam.

Your blood pressure is too high?
Do you take medication for it? I do, and it brings it right down to perfect!

You are saying it is a scam because you CAN'T sign a contract?

I have to chime in here.

These schools ARE the best way into a drivers seat.

However these schools will not get you a good job in the industry.

Yes, the schools are predatory. They want your money.

Yes, the companies that use them are predatory. They will run you long and hard for pennies and toss you away on the first mistake without a care.

These schools will get you your CDL, BUT

They will not fix stupid or a bad attitude.

They will not erase your bad driving record.

    They will not erase felonies.

If you have any accidents or tickets, don't bother.

That means don't waste your money on a school, those accidents and tickets are what will stop you from being hired on the spot. No call backs or touchy feely letters, your app goes straight in the dust bin.

In this situation your only path is straight into the fire and that is to first find work for a truck, then get your own authority, insurance, and truck. (those are listed in order of importance)

and read all of the owner operator threads in this forum..... (do this first)

Be prepared for a steep learning curve, you will probably haul a lot of loads for no profit. Have plenty of money to burn.

For a newb to make it you will need lots of perseverance, luck, best to have your own tools and good mechanical aptitude, an extra helping of common sense, patience, luck, and the ability to make your own luck.
