Well bless your heart. You went and got offended. Heck Edward I was joking with you.

    *shrugs*

But for the record: you're not the only driver that cares about our company. And all guffball did was ask about the money. He never said that he'd do it ONLY for the money but y'all chose to jump down his throat about it. Let me point out that if you stopped getting paid I rather doubt you'd still be hauling loads. We all work for money, we have other reasons as well but we ALL like our paychecks.

That's like a family member asking what you are getting them for christmas this year. It just ain't time yet.
You should be concentrating on becoming a student. You need about 5 years in to learn everything first to be a quality trainer. Otherwise it's the blind leading the blind.
It's good you have interest, but get your ducks lined up first. Pay changes all the time. Companies use to give trainers the trainees money. But now they are just giving you a little extra and keeping the rest. My trainer 15 years ago made $85K. Today they are lucky to make $10K more. Companies have to run a tight ship and if they find away to keep money from you, they will. Now you want me to tell you about 3 trainers I knew that died while they were in the sleeper? Since maybe 1 in 6 students make it long term, training is a high risk occupation. I love money, but not that much.

Edward. I didn't infer that I'm better than you. That's all in your mind. In fact why I'm beginning to not care much for you is that you project the image that you think you're better than everyone else. You project the idea that you're the ONLY one that cares about the company, the ONLY one that thinks, the ONLY one that knows a darn thing. You demand that Shrek answers every little question you think of while you grill him but you don't answer the ones you've been asked.

And frankly I don't need you telling me that the company is good. I've been on this forum saying that for two freaking years. You my dear boy just began doing it. So take your attitude and stick in your fuel tank.

Please do place me on ignore Edward because I don't see a future where you and I are getting along.

And this time I wasn't being friendly and joking with you.

I don't see money as a valid reason for becoming a trucker, because we don't make that much, especially if you average it out by the hour. If you love doing it, then money is a nice thing to have- it does put food in my mouth after all. But if you don't love it, you probably won't succeed, or at least will be grumbly and miserable all the time. There's an old cliche- do what you love and you'll never work again. We all need to earn a paycheck somehow, but earning it by doing something you can't stand doing is a lousy way to live. I know- I've been there. I worked production in a shoelace factory for 6 years. Bleh!

Trucking is hard. It's frustrating and stressful and lonely and a whole lot of other things, too. If you don't find anything to enjoy in it, you won't be able to handle all the bad. Too many get into this thinking it's easy work and big money because that's the image a lot of people have about trucking. Then they find out it's hard and your paycheck is actually quite tiny for the first year, and they say they can make more at McD's and still be with their families every night, and they walk away. Still owing a loan for truck driving school.

I've spoken with these drivers. They didn't do any research up front, they just believed some school recruiter who said they would make big bucks and jumped in. Trust me, folks, big bucks are not that easy to get. Sure, sometimes you'll hear a driver brag about making 100K+ last year or somesuch. I bet most of the time it's pure BS, though there may be a few rare specialty cases where someone did make that much. For the first year, most of us seem to agree 30K is reasonable, at least from the threads I've seen on it. I personally have never made more than 40K. Maybe this year I will ;)

So.....You're not even a driver yet and you're already looking to be a trainer?

    GET SERIOUS!

Now at SWIFT and all of the other bottom feeders they will let some fool be a trainer/mentor with a few months behind the wheel...That's why so many of the drivers for these companies SUCK!

You're a long ways from being a trainer and you're 5 years minimum from having enough knowledge to "teach" anybody anything about this line of work!

O man I can't believe this group. It's not like I'm trying to be a trainer tomorrow MAN get a grip everyone. I only asked what it paid.

If you get so upset over a question why are you part of a forum that is geared toward newbies asking questions?????

Why would you call Swift a bottom feeder? Not everyone can start at the top. What where you borne in a Truck you had to start some where didn't you? Moron
