I have a CDL, what kind of pay and training would Prime require? I am in Idaho, do they hire from Idaho? Basically Im an entry level driver with all my endorsements and graduated from an accredited PTDI school. I can't find specific info on the Prime site....

For a student driver, they hire you after you earn your CDL through the Prime instruction course. They'll advance you $200 to cover expenses, paid back at $25 per week after you get your CDL and start earning. Once you're on a trainers truck, its $600 per week (before taxes) or 12cpm if you're over 5000 miles for the week. Keep in mind, you have to be available for dispatch to make any money. If you are home, sitting in a hotel room - no pay.
Either way, you'll do 60,000 miles on your trainers truck. Now, they've made some changes since I did it, so I'm not quite sure how it works after this. It used to be you had the option of going solo for 30cpm for 20,000 miles then upgrading, or staying on your trainers truck for that 20,000 then going in for your upgrade test - staying at the $600 or 12cpm. You get the 20k miles done faster in a team environment.
At that point they start you out as a A-seat, solo qualified driver on the company side for 33cpm. Or... you can jump into a lease at this point, but I really don't recommend it. You're much better off spending some time on the company side figuring the business out before jumping into the deep end!
And they do hire out of Idaho - they'd probably want to dispatch you out of Salt Lake City.Cudascious and engine312 Thank this. -

Drivers under the old scale stay on that scale. I fall into tha category.Cudascious Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info! Sounds like a good deal for an entry level driver. I am going to work for a company that starts at .30 cpm and a .01 cpm raise every 6 mos up to .32 or .33 cpm and 350 per week for 2 or 3 weeks while with a trainer then you go solo.
I suppose its a similar deal, seems like all of the big companies are mostly similar. I guess I will find out. I have spent weeks reading and researching companies, I ended up going with one that is not far from where I live. -
I am in Orientation now in Salt Lake City.
It has been much better than expectedCudascious Thanks this. -
IP, Sazook, U2 - Everything is approved, so as soon as I get this move done from Omaha to Texas, I will be joining y'all back in the Prime fleet!
