Well, I got a question for the public. Why do you guys insist on cutiing us off, brake checking(when non tailgating), and in some cities we are only allowed in 1 lane so why do 4-wheels insist on going slow in that lane? My truck does 65mph any car will go over that so do it. Or when you see a 18-wheeler humming along at 70mph move over and let him go by instead of #####ing that he is tailgating. Everything you own or wear was brought by a truck. Remember that and show some bloody respect. Tailgating is wrong and unsafe but we don't have the "kickdown" car do so passing is a long ordeal.
Why do you tailgate 4 wheelers?

I don't tailgate either. Our trucks are governed at 63. :\
It takes a long time and an "overspeed" message to pass someone. -

Yeah that's them jumping for joy because you're that much closer to losing your bonus.

i have another question for the public, why dont 4wheelers merge with the speed of traffic when comming of an on ramp?I was alwys taught to merge with the speed of traffic not slower.Trucks are not the only causes for problems or accidents on the roads.Im sure if you talk to any trucker hes has at least a dozen stories or more of problems heor she had with a 4wheeler.

i personally merge slower because on ramp speed is 45 here in town i-10 is 55 so until you actually hit the freeway its 45 have had 2 friends ticketed for going 55 on the ramps -
Tailgating is frustrating because there's not a whole lot you can do about it. Having an 18-wheeler on my little Honda's bumper is a lot scarier than a four-wheeler. The plus side is I have a lot more confidence in the truckers' ability than in my fellow four-wheeler's ability. On the other hand, I'm not too happy with anyone's driving who is tailgating.
I routinely have both professional drivers and four-wheelers tailgate me. (I tend to drive the speed limit on the Interstate right lane, which makes me relatively slow.) I think we all know the problem isn't limited to one side or the other although, IMHO, four-wheelers are much worse. I generally feel much safer driving around the professionals (despite their size) than around my fellow four-wheelers. This is as it should be.
Tailgating is illogical. If you have to slow down, you have to slow down. You may as well slow down and leave a safe distance. Of course, it's difficult to communicate this to the driver on your bumper.
The bottom line is that we have very limited control over other drivers, but we can (and should) control our own. Us "slow" drivers need to stay in the proper lane and avoid causing situations where someone might be inclined to tailgate us.
With a four-wheeler tailgater, I sometimes ease up, slightly and very carefully, on the gas. Sometimes they just don't realize how close they are and this reminds them. Other times it convinces them that I'm not intimidated and they should back off and pass safely.
I don't feel very comfortable doing this with an 18-wheeler. Most situations when they are tailgating me is when they can't get in the left lane due to traffic. Sometimes I will speed up about 5mph to get more room. Given their speed regulators and slow acceleration, they're often able to find the left lane by the time they're back on my bumper.
